X-country skiing 2:30:00 [3]

Another great day on the ski trails round and about Hedmarksvidda from Maolia, ending up back at Budor. Colder morning and straight down the hill from the hut wasn't the best way of warming-up, but more lovely quiet trails with great snow and varying scenery. Didn't feel quite so slick on the skis today with yesterday in my legs, but still going pretty well. Detoured back to the Stenfjell hytta to linger over coffee and soup, then back by some more technical, narrower trails across the grain of the land.
Loving it :-)

Lang tur round Hedmarksvidda from Maolia. Wind dropped, tracks beautifully pisted, not too cold and lots of blue sky. Makings of a great day, made all the better by what felt like my best skiing ever. On classic skis, but did loads of skating because the tracks were so good and it just seemed to click for me today :-) Hoping this is a turning point in my skiing competence. Very quiet early on, got a bit busier later, but most people were going in the opposite direction. Nice rolling semi-open hills with some views and a great cafe at Stenfjell hytta. E moving much faster and more happily on his new skis :-)

Ski in from Budor to hytta at Maolia for the w/e. Strong head / side wind blowing lots of snow around which was pretty unpleasant at times, but easy otherwise, with steady gentle climb almost all the way. Beds bagged and hut to be shared with a pair of ageing hut trolls.

Orienteering 50:00 [2]

Corridor and blank map exercise on Hoias. Recovery session, so no intention of going much faster than a walk. Went really pretty well, although I was having to stop so much to read all the detail on the map. J shadowing me, which helped with confidence. Enjoyed it.

Lang tur with J. Drove over to Sweden to the entrance to Tresticklans national park, then ran back across to Budalsvika in Norway, round a loop to take in Tomt Elias hideout cave, then back the same way. Running across the grain of the ridges, so a fair few ups and downs. Path started out really good, but got progressively more technical, wetter and with some big steep climbs on the Norwegian side. Gorgeous forest. Lots of signs of animals, including wolf tracks and a beaver dam, but only saw 1 capercaillie. Didn't take enough food with us. We were both tired and hungry by the end.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2]

Jog up to Venaas the long way on the lysloype via Ek to keep the feet dry. Grovel back after intervals the same way. Starting to associate this stretch of track with exhaustion.

Running intervals 30:00 [5]

5 x laps of the Venaas trim loype off a 6' cycle. 3:49, 52, 50, 52, 53. Felt tough, especially the last two. Thought I was well off the pace on the 4th, but turned out that J was just going faster. Times not comparable with last time as I ran a bit extra then, and there was snow on the ground, but still knocked a fair bit off my strava segment time. Really pleased to have ground this out as I felt tired on the jog up.

Easy leg loosener. Up over Ulvaas to Ekelimoen and back by lysloype. Mingin' day ~2C and rain, sleet up at Ek.... but barna all still happily outside grubbing around in the puddles at the barnehage

Jog down to circuits and grovel back. Hungry. Very.

No Eva tonight, so circuits session instead. Don't think it's quite as tough as the usual, but feeling tired enough now.
