Running 1:05:00 [3]

With J and DH, crossed the "canal" at the Brekke Sluser and followed progressively smaller paths up onto Brattaas. Back the same way due to time constraints. Pretty wet underfoot in places but some gorgeous forest higher up (nature reserve). Loads of piggy rootlings too. Apparently they're "banned" from Norway but there is a permanent population in these parts, close to the Swedish border. Elk poo too. Not enough time to explore further but must go back sometime and see if we can find the porkers.

Orienteering race 43:00 [5]

HDNC at Akselaas, short course. Mingin day but this was the most fun O race I've done here yet. Terrain is lovely and you can actually run through it! Almost managed to break 10'/km, but mistakes in the circle at 6 and 8 messed that up. Need to slow down on approach to control and check ap better. One twinge from knee when it over-extended dropping into a bog, but otherwise fine.

Running 43:00 [3]

Wee run on J's map at Svinesund. Started on the paths but then, at J's suggestion, ran along some of the hilltops through some lovely terrain, with good views out over the fjord. Good to test the knee in terrain and it was fine.

Running 50:00 [3]

Set off on the paths round Hoias, but had the night controls map with me and ended up doing a couple of km control pick at the back end. Found it hard to read the map running along the path but easier to focus in once I was actually doing some O. Enjoyed it.

Running 1:15:00 [3]

Out and about on the lysloype and blue trail etc. below the mast. Gorgeous sunny morning but air still cold. Feeling good and running relaxed for the first time, except where it was icy and I was being super cautious.

Running 54:00 [2]

Easy with J. Exploring some new tracks from Krusaetertjern south into Ertemarka. Good track initially, then smaller boggy path. Tried running with just 1 contact lens and it was definitely better for map reading, but found it quite awkward for seeing the ground well enough on the rougher path. Going slowly in any case as being v cautious with my knee. Also ended up with a sore head, probably because of the sight imbalance. Think I need to try a stronger in-between prescription. Knee ok, but legs felt really heavy and I am not running relaxed. Some lovely looking terrain in this area - will come back for a longer run sometime soon hopefully.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Needed that.
Knee feels like it's loosening off - walking more relaxed etc.

Running 18:00 [2]
(injured)

Test jog for the knee. Down the road to the lysloype, along to the foot of the steep bit and back the same way. OK on flat, up and down. Stiffness, but no pain. Rolling the top of the knee forward (hyper-extension type movement) is where the damage is and this should be avoidable with smooth running. Will stick to good surfaces for the next while and see how it goes.
