Running 25:00 [3]

Shortened version of Friday's run towards Venaas, then back over Uvaas. Really icy out there now, but getting used to wearing a bit more kit.
Relaxed morning wandering round the festning and environs. Gorgeous winters day.

Orienteering race 53:00 [4]

HDNC #2 at Isebakketjern, kort.
Really cold morning, -5C or so. Most of w-u was done standing by the fire at assembly. Was so cold heading off from the start that my eyes were watering and I had difficulty reading the map. Fingers were also freezing despite wearing running gloves. Found a decent line using the western path route to 1. 2 was a long leg across the grain of the land with lots of crags etc. Wasn't too sure how to tackle it, so very hesitant, but also switched off from looking at my compass early in the leg, hit the wrong path and headed through 90 deg for a way. Once corrected the rest of the leg was ok, and indeed the rest of the course went to plan too. Felt on edge the whole time, and was so happy when I would see a trail through the frost / snow near the controls. Got a real buzz from the race. Very glad I entered the "kort" 4.5km rather than "mellom" 7.9km though. Not quite sure where the forest reminded me of - a bit "different".

Running 42:00 [3]

With J from Opalveien out to Venaas, Eikelimoen and back over the top of Ulvaas. Easy pace, feeling wappit. Nice though - white and crispy with clear blue skies.

Orienteering race 59:00 [4]

Home for just long enough to fit in the DNC at Sluie. Felt surprisingly good. Got away with some less than tight navigation by good compass work, knowing the area, and a bit of luck, but still lost quite a lot of time in and about the circle at 1, 5, 6 (didn't check description and was looking for boulder) and 7 (on wrong boulder?). Will need to be an awful lot more rigorous at night in Norway.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Quads still v tight. Think this may be part of the source of my knee niggle.

Strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Halden club session with Eva leading. Mix of dynamic stuff, drills, strength and a map memory exercise. Good fun.
Would love to watch EJ vs RMac doing sit-ups to the death :-)
