Tour de Orkney stage 1; Dess - Aberdeen. N of the river via Craiglash to Banchory then DW to Aberdeen. Nice day and a really pleasant ride. I'd take this for the week.

Off the ferry and into Kirkwall in the simmerdim. Fun start to the holiday.
With JR and TR from the bridge in Aboyne up the Fungle to the track junction below Carnferg. Left them to carry on up and turned down the Gamies track, then across the semi-open to the forest and the cistern track back. Legs feeling a lot better than expected and a really pleasant run. Fair bit of wash-out on both Fungle and cistern tracks.
Fionn Bheinn above Achnasheen. Not the most exciting of hills. Big bog plod up grassy slopes. Changeable weather and way colder than it should be. It's July ffs. Out for 3h.
10 x 1+1 intervals on the GWC home straight along the riverside from Poolewe. Needed to do something a bit quicker to get my legs moving after a week of lots of uphill plodding. Legs heavy but felt good to do this.
Otherwise a rainy recovery day - Inverewe gardens, Gairloch bookshop and the beach at Red Point.
An Teallach with J and E. Pretty good day weather wise. Cloud swirling around the ridges but clearing enough to give some awesome atmospheric views. First ascent for me. A classic.
Out for 5 1/2h or so.
