Running 48:00 [3]

Easy run with J from the Hardys. By mix of boggy path and road up to Blackshaw Head, then back by road. Dreich and a cold wind.

X-country skiing 55:00 [2]

Ventured up the glen to see if there was enough snow for a play on the skis. Parked just past the end of the forest on the Glen Muick road and headed up the track onto Drum Cholzie. Plenty of snow, but it had been blown about a lot, so there were quite a lot of bare patches on the track. Avoidable on the way up and got most of the way to the first plateau before finding the track completely blown free of snow. Left my skis here and continued as far as the first high point. Could see bad weather moving in by now and was already feeling pretty arctic, so a good time to turn round and head back down. Some ok skiing for most of the way down, with a bit of heather mixed in in places. Took skis off before the last descent to avoid too much rock skiing. Not exactly a classic day out, but nice to get on the skis and a good reminder of how difficult Scotland can be, both weather wise and snow conditions.

Orienteering 1:36:00 [3] 10.4 km (9:14 / km)

Control collecting at Shooting Greens. This seemed like a completely different forest today. Legs had some bounce back in them and I actually really enjoyed it. Unfortunately found 144 on the wrong boulder, which was really disappointing, but perhaps a relief to the people who spent a long time looking for it. I wasn't confident when I hung it and should have checked it more carefully - lesson learned. Car park to finish round all the controls in 89'.
Road still hadn't been gritted by midday and was utterly lethal.

Running 50:00 [3]

Followed J down to the r/w to see if I felt up to doing some intervals. No surprise that there wasn't anything in my legs yet, so carried on for a feel good run instead. Down to Wh Cott, across A93 to Belwade, Drumnagask, down to the river bank and back along to Dess Mill. Very pleasant and felt better for it.

Running 15:00 [2]

DNC Shooting Greens - jog down to start with the maps and back to car park. Caught in a blatter of snow.

Turned into rather more of an epic than I had hoped. Combination of rough tough forest, wintry night and full on technical orienteering proved too much for many. Need to check number 8 on the long course - caused lots of problems and can't be totally confident that it was correct. Will see tomorrow. Relieved to count everyone back in safely.

Orienteering 1:50:00 [2]

Control hanging at Shooting Greens for DNC. Rough tough stuff. Not moving very fast. Still feeling very tired. Out for 2h30m total.
