X-country skiing 55:00 [2]
Ventured up the glen to see if there was enough snow for a play on the skis. Parked just past the end of the forest on the Glen Muick road and headed up the track onto Drum Cholzie. Plenty of snow, but it had been blown about a lot, so there were quite a lot of bare patches on the track. Avoidable on the way up and got most of the way to the first plateau before finding the track completely blown free of snow. Left my skis here and continued as far as the first high point. Could see bad weather moving in by now and was already feeling pretty arctic, so a good time to turn round and head back down. Some ok skiing for most of the way down, with a bit of heather mixed in in places. Took skis off before the last descent to avoid too much rock skiing. Not exactly a classic day out, but nice to get on the skis and a good reminder of how difficult Scotland can be, both weather wise and snow conditions.
