Running race 4:58:58 [5]

Lairig Ghru race. This was tough - happy enough to go sub 5h but not very happy with how the body coped. First twinges of cramp at ~2 1/2h which is way too early in a race of this distance. Problems in the calf initially but progressed into full leg seizures. Fairly happy to the high point but the rough descent to the forest was grim - had to stop ~4 times for various seizures. Managed to get going steady again once onto the better tracks down the bottom, but still being passed by lots of people. Will be interesting to try and figure out what time some of the folk who passed me on the descent managed to do in the end. Also frustrated to start getting a blister after 45' wearing the same shoes and socks that I've worn for the last two long runs.
Chuffed to be the supporting act to help DR win the ladies team prize with SP and SR.
So decision time now - can I / do I want to do the Jungfrau marathon in Sep? Middle of the race I'd decided no, but of course a few hours later now I'm veering towards yes.
For the record in case I'm daft enough to do this again, splits were:
1:15:49 to Derry Lodge
1:51:09 to high point
1:11:42 to CC footbridge
40:20 to finish

Long way down to the school through the woods. Still feeling crap - getting a bit worried about Sunday now. Don't know what the problem is.

Running intervals 6:00 [4]

Did some sprints to try and get my legs going a bit better. 6 x 30"+30". Not sure it helped much.

10 x 1'+1' at GT round 2 bridges in reverse. Felt sluggish at the start but got into it a bit better. Felt I needed to get myself going again with a bit of speedwork. Easy for the rest of the week now to rest up for the LG.
