X-country skiing 4:00:00 [2]

Weather turned - bit of snow in the morning but looked to be brightening and not as cold. Took a taxi to Ustaoset to ski back to Geilo via Prestholseter. What we didn't realise was that there was a bitter wind coming in from the east which we would head into most of the day. E really not happy for the first hour and I couldn't really blame him (he's always hated wind) but we were committed to the route to get back. Had the makings of an epic, but fortunately wind seemed less cold after a while and E cheered up. Some sun and blue sky and some more snow showers. Out for a bit longer, but similar distance ~24km.
A shorter day tomorrow could be a good plan.

X-country skiing 4:00:00 [2]

10' practice at the start of the day and E was a different confident snow plougher today. Went from Kikut out to Gronebakken and back then returned down the same hill as yesterday back to Geilo. Another beautiful day but v cold again (-20 at breakfast time ). Special day - happy E = happy J+S. Great skiing.

Note

Didn't sleep very well - very tired and lots of aching bits especially arms. Worried I might have overcooked the first day. Thankfully felt a lot better by the morning.

X-country skiing 4:00:00 [2]

From Kikut to Brennen and the new Torsrunden loop then back to Geilo, detour to the shops and back to Oen. Out for 5 1/2 total. Magical day but very cold and lost fingers a couple of times. E happy at times and not at others! ~22km

Note
(rest day)

Travelling to Geilo. Stop off in Bergen and time for a walk up to the top of the funicular. Beautiful sunny days and wonderful views down on the city.

Orienteering 55:00 [3]

DNC at Coull. Full day of science review followed by wine and nibbles probably isn't the best prep for night O, but what the hell....Was very hesitant and unconfident through the first few controls, but then started to flow and cruised the rest quite cleanly. Nice night.

Running intervals 30:00 [5]

1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1, pyramid round the streets of Aboyne for old times sake. Felt surprisingly sprightly and was managing to keep in touch with Sam and even Steph on the shorter ones (think she was taking it easy). Good session.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Warm-up to the far end of the bridge - AS too scared of the dark to go further. Decent length warm-down back from the end of the village, then along to pick-up my windproof from the end of R'haven rd.
