Orienteering race 1:05:00 [5]

SOL 1 at Dalrunzion. Ran Short Brown. Feeling battered before I started, which isn't the best way to go into a forest like this. Also distracted before and after the start by being an anxious mum (white course looked a bit tricky). Despite all this managed to hold my technique together and didn't make any mistakes to speak of. Caught up an M50 at no 4 and was with him until no 15 or so, when he managed to run away from me. Felt like hard work all the way round and even more battered by the finish. Long time since I've had a tough weekend like this.

Before the start. Got there way too early with E and then had to distract him by building a den.

Note

Great w/e with MTS. Hope they enjoyed it as much as we did, and got something from it.

Orienteering race 18:00 [5]

Scottish sprint champs at Muirton, Perth. Mainly urban course. Mostly smooth except for difficulties in interpreting a few cds (inside / outside corners).
Had my worst crash for a long time crossing the fence out of the second last control. Caught my back foot on something which made me catch the wire, somehow twist round and slam down onto my back. Winded and grazed but picked myself up to finish - didn't improve my chances on the run-in split competition though ;-}
Seemed to have escaped any major injury from the fall but realised later I must have pulled muscles in my neck as it's v sore to lift and drop my head.

Needed a decent warm-up to feel anything like running. Friday's run still in my legs.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

Control hanging and collecting for MTS training at Kinnoull. Planned a cunning exercise to force the athletes to navigate without a compass which seemed to work pretty well. Running was too soon after lunch for my stomach.

This was when I realised I couldn't lift my head up.

Went for a recce round Feughside with J. Looking good - maybe even enough for a SOL. Out at 09:20 yet felt surprisingly ok.

Great session - only 3 of us there. Felt I was doing moves well.

Maroc session. Worked pretty hard.

Running intervals 20:00 [5]

Achilles niggling before run (work shoes) but felt fine once out (nice old knackered running shoes). Decided to see how a few reps felt and they were fine, so did 20 x 30"+30". Felt like first speed work in a long time.

Round the woods. Felt ok - achilles not really causing any noticeable problem. Fingers crossed.
Beautiful day and woodpeckers were drumming.
