Orienteering 50:00 [3]

Training at Creag Choinnich, picking up tapes. 3km O plus 1km up to the start. Felt better than expected jogging up to the start. A bit hesitant in the rocky stuff and not moving very fast, but steady navigation. Surprised at how slow it was.

Note

Walked up to the DR picnic at the Ballochbuie summer house with J and E ~1.5h out and back. Lovely day, except for the brief shower and chilly wind whilst we were picnicking. Very sociable.

Running 2:44:00 [3]

Long run in the Ladder Hills with J - new territory for me. Started from Glen Nochty and headed up a track E from Glenbuchat House. It soon disappeared into the heather giving us 40' or so of tedious plod up the hill through the undergrowth. Beyond Little Geal Charn we picked up the line of the old track again and managed to get running a bit better. Followed the ridge to the high point at Carn Mor (804m and a Prominent Peak), then descended from Dun Muir by a track to the edge of the plantation. Then it was a slow painful slog back on forest tracks to the car. Never really felt good running.
Have never seen such huge areas of cloudberry growth in Scotland, covering most of the hillside, with lots of flowers and some fruit starting to set - could be worth a return visit in 6 weeks or so. Also 1 mountain hare and lots of young grouse.

Orienteering 35:00 [3]

Short intense session at Crathes. 22 controls in ~2.5km. Focussed quite well to start with, but losing it a bit towards the end.

Still feeling tired but wanted to get some intervals in, so set out to do 10 x 1'+1' at H'head. Did 12 in the end and probably could have pushed myself to do some more as the legs did improve through the session.
