Running long 1:35:00 [4]

Long hill run on one of Ben's routes that I haven't run for a few years. Parked on the minor road S of the Don near Culfork and headed S into the hills to the W of Morven. Started off on the wee road up Glen Conrie and then onto a big landrover track that takes you almost all of the way to the top of Scraulac. E along the ridge to Mona Gowan and then back down the big track to the N. Felt great on the hill - settled into a nice steady rhythm and reached the first top in just over 45 minutes. The running was great even off the tracks, with short-cropped heather and springy reindeer moss. A couple more climbs along the ridge, including a steep section up to Mona Gowan. Saw a mountain hare - looking very white against the heather - but not much else. The descent track is now up to motorway standard as they've taken out a wee plantation high up on the hill. All in all a great run. Expected it to take a bit longer.

Note

Still feeling heavy headed and runny nosed, but decided it's an allergy rather than a lurgy. I think today's run confirmed that.

Rest Day
Jon away for the day. Had planned to take Ewan cycling on the tag-along, but the wind was ferocious and I didn't think it would be much fun. Anyway, feeling a bit bleah - cold not fully developed, but eyes and head heavy.

Running 53:00 [3]

Parked at Tower of Ess and headed up towards the Guard doing hill reps from the start of the steep bit. Turned R at the big pine at the top and along into Glen Tanar. Down by the diagonal track through the forest and back along the track on the E side of the Tanar. Glorious springlike morning. Great view to Lochnagar and the Fairy Loch looked particularly sparkly. Struggling on the return along the bottom, so must have worked quite well on the hills.

Running hills 30:00 [5]

7 x 2' + 1 x 1' hills with 2' recovery. Feeling much better today. 6 reps took us to the top and the last 3' were extra up the next hill, after dropping down to cross the Allt Roy. 2' recovery was good.

Note

Spent all afternoon gardening. Great day.....but I think I might be going down with a cold.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Over-stuffed myself at tea and stretching didn't seem like a good idea at all, but guilted myself into doing a shortened session.

Rest Day
Great day at work - everything working. Enjoying a rest.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Running warm up/down 21:00 [2]

Jogged out to Hazlehead to do some intervals. Feeling heavy legged and generally tired but hoped that it would improve once I got going. It didn't, so I decided to cut the interval session short. I obviously haven't recovered from the weekend, so will try having a rest day tomorrow and hopefully feel a bit bouncier by Friday.

Running intervals 15:00 [4]

5 x 2' + 1' on roads

Running 15:00 [2]

Running around getting the time-trial going etc. Seemed to work well.

Running 25:00 [2]

Easy run to loosen off. Different route from usual round the roads and tracks through Hazlehead Park etc.

Running 30:00 [2]

Setting up a terrain time-trial in Dess for Wed training. Took 1 1/2 hours or so by the time I'd changed bits of it, found enough tape etc., but not running for much of that time. Feeling very tired from yesterday but not damaged otherwise.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Mostly OK, but hamstring cramped on the shoulder bridge leg lift. Got away without Emma spotting I was knackered.
