Orienteering race 57:00 [4] *** 6.2 km (9:12 / km)

Maroc event at Bogendreip. Feeling very weary this morning, so ran the blue course instead of the brown. Orienteered well - spiked all the controls, planning ahead etc. Tried to run hard but my body was complaining and my left ankle was niggling throughout. Time for a well-earned rest now.

Note

Left ankle has been niggling a bit all week and was more persistently sore this morning. Hopefully a couple of days rest and more icing should help a lot.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]

O training at Scolty. Feeling very tired, but thought that an easy half hour might help loosen me up for the night O. Definitely felt better afterwards and the O was going OK too.

Orienteering race 54:00 [5] *****

Scottish Night Champs at Birsemore. Ran really well with barely 2 minutes of small misses. Struggled up the hill to no 1 and missed it a bit, by which time Holly had caught me 1 minute. After that spiked the controls well and ran hard. Pleased with the result. Hollie won in 50'.

10 minutes jog to the start. Then realised I'd left my compass in the car, so another 20 minutes down and back up again ;-{ At least I was well warmed up before the start :-}

Well knackered, so stretching got a bit abbreviated again.

Friday Feb 20, 2009 #

Orienteering 1:10:00 [2]

Helped Jon with control hanging at Scolty for training. Still feeling pretty tired and wasn't being very positive about the control hanging (lots of hesitation and double checking) but enjoyed it all the same. The bottom bit of Scolty is still nice running and very pleasant orienteering.

Feeling very tired and wanted to get to bed, so stretching routine was shortened over the usual.

Decent session. Couldn't balance at all at start - I think my legs are too shafted from night O etc.

Steady run at Hazlehead. Legs feel pretty good.

Orienteering race 1:00:00 [4] ****

DNC at Sluie. Felt I was running quite well, but orienteering was a bit scrappy. Probably missed ~ 3 minutes. I'll need to be more on top of the orienteering on Saturday for Birsemore.

Steady lunchtime run round Hazlehead. Made myself move a bit quicker after being caught up by someone - raised my pace and hung in behind them until we went different ways. Legs aren't feeling too bad after last night.

Monday Feb 16, 2009 #

Orienteering race 1:02:00 [4] ***

DNC at Carlogie postponed from a couple of weeks ago. A few small mistakes early on but spiked all controls on the second half absolutely perfectly. Running didn't feel too bad. Good course with some nice route choice and longish legs over vague bits of the terrain. Snow has almost cleared in the forest now.
