Up for a 07:30 run again (3 pre-breakfast runs in a row must be a record). Fortunately Steve had a long run to do today so couldn't join us, but still with the company of Jon, Quentin and Mark. Set out the same way as Saturday but then turned off onto some "paths" across the fields and then headed up to the monument above the village. A rather more sensible pace for me although I still had to work hard on the way back up the hill.
Up in time for a 07:30 run before the BOF coaching conference. Jon had made a date with Steve Vernon (!) and Quentin Harding and Mark Saunders joined us too. Started out at a sensible pace, but needless to say it gradually wound up to turn into a quality speed session for me (50 m off the back whilst Steven continued to jog along chattering to the others in the distance). Did a loop out on a track then round some back roads. A bit snowy and icy underfoot.
Drills30:00 [2]
A running drills session led by Steve Vernon - fun. Feeling a bit sore in a few places afterwards.
Pre-breakfast run before heading S for the weekend. Down the track, along the road and down to the riverbank, retrning by the back road and the field. Not feeling great, but then I never do at that time of day.
Lunchtime run in the snow round Hazlehead. Felt I was plodding a bit so made myself do a few sprints to try and get the legs moving. Passed a guy riding a unicycle in the snow - now that must take some skill and some good core strength I reckon.
Night O cancelled, but not in time for me to run at lunchtime, so went out round the woods with my headtorch after I got home. Past the waterfall and Ian's, out to the fields and then back over the hill. Snow is melting already and the bottom track is really wet. Legs still feeling tired, but hopefully should feel fresher by tomorrow.
Lunch time intervals on the tracks round Hazlehead. 7 x 3' + 1'. Feeling pretty sluggish and not getting great distance. Wet, muddy and altogether unpleasant, but feeling virtuous now. Tick.
