Sunday Feb 9, 2014 #

Orienteering warm up/down 25:00 [1] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 300

Orienteering race 1:06:00 [4] 10.2 km (6:28 / km) +100m 6:10 / km
shoes: Mudclaw 300

SCOA champs - had some really good sections, used my compass and spiked the controls. Two time losses at 9 and 11 where I needed attack points and got distracted. Number 5 was just awful though - lost around 5 minutes on a massive 90 degree error. Ah well, if I can just manage to concentrate for a whole course then things might start to look a bit better!!

Saturday Feb 8, 2014 #

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [1] 2.5 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 300

Orienteering 34:42 [4] 5.3 km (6:33 / km) +170m 5:39 / km
shoes: Mudclaw 300

Bagshot South

Took a while to figure out the 1:5000 scale. Overshot the first control & was far too hesitant over the first part of the course - getting confused by all the paths instead of simplifying. Felt like things got a lot better after that, although didn't feel especially great running wise. Good simplification practice in the end & I read the contours better than I have been doing. Not a bad result in the end - maybe I'm just too harsh on myself.

(rest day)

Family dinner :) :) :)

Thursday Feb 6, 2014 #

Running hills 54:00 [3] 10.5 km (5:09 / km)

6 x 40sec and then 3 x 3mins - jog down recoveries between each
Plus extended warm up/down from home
Feel lots better for not getting cold and soggy yesterday

Gym 1:00:00 [1]

Trying to fight off a cold and really didn't think going to track in the rain would help that. Just some easy cross training in the gym instead - hopefully more sensible & might avoid this developing.

Spin 45:00 [2]

Spinage. Drank way too much tea at work, absolutely buzzing on a caffeine high!
