Orienteering warm up/down 25:00 [1]

Orienteering race 31:48 [5] 4.0 km (7:57 / km) +150m 6:42 / km

Waaah I loved this area :) The most fun I've had orienteering in absolutely ages!
Lost 1 min @ number 6 - I found the re-entrant just north of the control, thought it was a depression and got very confused. Ran back a bit towards number 5 and then figured out how close I'd been the first time. Think straight route would have been better than my route along the fence.
Lost 1 min @ number 15 - Was so tired that I wasn't really reading my map and followed a man to his control just west of ours. Fail on my part.
Was loving the beginning up until the moor part started. Felt strong running and like I was getting them all pretty spot on, a feeling I've not had in a long long time!
Very happy to only be 4 mins down on the top ladies compared to last year when I was over 8 minutes down. Improving slowly.... :D

Heat 1 - Not the most interesting of courses, a couple of silly routes but fairly happy really. Managed to qualify for the A final which was my aim for the weekend :)

Orienteering race 16:12 [5] 3.5 km (4:38 / km) +45m 4:21 / km

Final - As usual I started way too fast and massively hit the wall on the way to 13, couldn't persuade my lungs to keep going hard, so just tried to hang on without totally stopping. Massively ballsed up 19 and 20, was so tired that I missed the cut through both times. fail. Fabby area though, very fun!

Practising compass work on a middelish type course. Got mega brambled. The "gullies" turned out to be about 10cm deep, so tricky to spot if I was in the right locations!

Shins did not like this :(
I feel like I am doing everything right (physio exercises, massage, limiting running) but none of this seems to make much difference and I think it should do. I wish I had a body that enjoyed running as much as me!

Intended to go cycling, not realising that mum's bike was very definitely broken. Got quite a way out when the handlebars and wheel decided to became detached from each other. Cue a very angry hours walk home carrying the bike!
Had to do S&C later instead. Will try run tomorrow if my shins are happier.
