Walking warm up/down 12:00 [1] 1.2 km (10:00 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

Good stroll to the start...

Orienteering race 57:21 [3] *** 6.7 km (8:34 / km) +25m 8:24 / km

CSC event at Hatfield Forest: Blue Men. Jog/walked it today - hamstrings were a little tight and whenever I felt it, I went back to a walk. Was very clean and no real errors at all. Wherever possible, I went straight - interesting that I got caught fairly quickly by my 1 min man and then it took him 7 controls to get away as he wasn't as clean (although running much faster) - just goes to show. Really enjoyed it and was singing to myself for much of the course (to the annoyance of those busting a gut, I'm sure!). Lovely warm sun too.

From CRC to Science start and back; then to Kings H start & back and finally to the Science area to marshall (& back)...

Orienteering 29:56 [1] ** 2.2 km (13:36 / km)
spiked:15/15c (injured) (sick)

Walked Race 1 on Science Park - straightforward routes which were mostly about spotting the gap through hedges and buildings. Nice stroll. Unsurprisingly I was nearly last!

Orienteering 28:09 [1] *** 3.0 km (9:23 / km)
spiked:23/23c (injured) (sick)

Race 2 around Kings Hedges... I've run through the estate a few times and thought it would make a cracking sprint area. It did not disappoint. Even at walking pace, you had to be precise and on top of where you were exactly. I even stood at one point to decide the best route. Would have been great a full pelt (and perhaps more mistakes for sure!). Hopefully closer to folk on this course where the technical advantage of walking might pay off...

Awake early (4.15am) and couldn't get back. Home at a reasonable time and had a quiet evening - felt exhausted by 9.

Felt wretched by the evening...

Day 3 - really struggled during the day. Perhaps yesterday's late afternoon walk to get some fresh air didn't help - even though it was needed mentally. Hobbling and in pain. Iced it in th evening and that helped. To add to the joys, got full blown cold as well. Overall, rubbish start to the summer!

Note
slept:8.0 (injured)

Decent night's sleep and woke to a stiff but less sore leg. Mobility improved but still a serious struggle. Swollen still and affected area seems quite 'wide'.
