7 AM

Running 1:16:36 [3] 11.0 mi (6:58 / mi)
slept:7.4 shoes: Asics GT 2170

Nice steady run - 6M loop followed by 'Alice's' town loop. Felt heavy & stiff legged from yesterday but this didn't affect my running unduly. 41.21 for the first loop which was good considering.

Running 29:05 [3] 4.0 mi (7:16 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Asics GT 2170

Steady run up Lynn Rd and back via St Mary's... felt reasonable today.
1 PM

Off-road running warm up/down 14:00 [2] 1.6 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

At Wimpole before & after - a couple of strides to loosen legs.

Orienteering race 35:52 [5] 6.9 km (5:12 / km) +95m 4:52 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

Blue course at Wimpole - fairly easy Oing but nice to have another good blowout and try to focus on decent bearings. Wasn't wholly clean - missed #5 (5secs) as didn't think th large hide was the rootstock. Got dragged to another control at #8 in spite of my compass telling me otherwise! Same happened at #12. Surprised that #13 was so close to the trees. Overall - about 25 secs of errors?

Running 27:14 [2] 3.5 mi (7:47 / mi)
slept:6.9 shoes: Asics GT 2170

Another recovery day - easy run around river loop with D. Felt tired - did an extra bit into the golf course at the end.

Slobbed it today but did make a walk to town & back with Dylan.

7 AM

Running 29:20 [2] 4.0 mi (7:20 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Asics GT 2170

Easy run over to th Common and back. Felt leg weary and tired from yesterday...
6 PM

Off-road running warm up/down 19:00 [2] 2.0 mi (9:30 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

Before and after around a lovely Burton Dassett... Glorious summer evening.

Orienteering race 33:07 [5] 5.1 km (6:30 / km) +330m 4:54 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

OD Summer event on Burton Dassett - on way back after seeing 'Titus' with Dylan so deviated to this event. Great choice - a physically v demanding area with some interesting contour detail on top, plus wonderful views across Oxfordshire & Warwickshire on a fab summer evening. Course had 23 controls so kind of mid-distance, plus lots and lots of climb! Was fairly precise and accurate tonight - just one small miss 10m to th right of th crag I should have been at.

Running 31:57 [2] 4.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics GT 2170

Really struggled this morning - felt sleepy and leg tired which is undoubtedly the effects of the 6 Day and long drive back. Around town and then back from Tesco.
6 PM

Running warm up/down 26:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: Brooks ST 5 Racers

Mile beforehand (with sharp strides) and then a couple easy afters including a swift trot back to Sloane Sq.

Orienteering race 27:13 [5] 4.4 km (6:11 / km) +40m 5:55 / km
shoes: Brooks ST 5 Racers

Battersea Park-race: really good course on an area that punishes sloppy O-ing at speed - and I was guilty of that tonight. Real hesitation at start as struggled to orientate self sufficiently do slow to #1 and then had to tie shoe laces (idiot!) on way to #2. Made real mess of #4 as was too high in the trees and lost over 40 secs on a 50 metre leg! Did complete circuit of building at #8 as hadn't read contl description. Another 10 secs. Picked up and passed Karen Poole but then went into the vegetation too early for #14 and she passed me again (another 10 secs). Was coming out of 14 when took a bad tumble and bashed forearm on a log. Winded me and was slow and hesitant to both 15 & 16 as a result (more time - 25 secs or so?). Went to wrong thicket for #18 and then chose wrong route to #20 (25 secs). Slight miss to #21 before finally getting clear of Karen. Think my route to #23 was also slightly slower than Dylan's. Another slight miss at #25 (wrong tree)- 5 secs. Overall I reckon to have made 2'30 worth of mistakes - not clever and was also struggling with my running tonight. Finished 11th and prob should have been 4th. Need both recovery and hard training!

Running 36:15 [3] 5.0 mi (7:15 / mi)
slept:7.5 weight:74.8kg shoes: Asics GT 2170

Had been in bed at 9.30 so was awake early and got out for a nice trot around town - too humid and too flat down south!
