Scottish Day 1 @ Lossie: overall was disappointed with performance even though i went really well up to #11. Started well and was clean until 12 where I chose the long path route for certainty and seemed to pick up the wrong one - many more unmapped. Got lost and even disorientated until relocating off the defences. Lost nearly 5 mins then 30secs at #13. Slow to 14 in the torrential rain and slight miss at end (30 secs?). Finally risked a straight line into the green area at end (#16) and flumped. Had to relocate from path to south. Another 3 mins burned. Probably lost 9 mins overall & clearly not happy with that.

After lovely day at Mallaig in the sun, I ran back from Morrisons via Cow Hill, Glen Nevis, Dun D (fort), then missed the West High path and steamed down a new forestry track only to reach a dead end a mile or so later. By that time, the rain was belting it down (and with 50 mins on clock) so beat it up through the forest until I caught the path and trekked back. Soggy, knackered but satisfied.

Along the valley road to the bridge and back; struggled on the hills with the descents worse than the climb!

Training on Achdalieu using dad's course from 2001; I certainly don't remember it to have been that tough! Was still feeling effects of Sunday and Inov8's weren't strong enough for the tussocky crap. Barely ran more than 100m at a time; positively I O'd pretty sound and kept in contact throughout.

Drove around to Glen Nevis so I could have a flat run! O & B up the Glen road which was just what needed. Thighs particularly battered.

Recovery swim in the stream pool near the Loch. Made a difference and the water wasn't too cold either.
