Steady run down th hill to the start and then easy back to the car park...

Orienteering race 58:05 [5] 10.4 km (5:35 / km) +110m 5:18 / km
shoes: Integrator 4

East Anglian Champs at Writtle Forest West (Brown)... Not the most technical but was tricky if you were sloppy and invited fast running which cost errors of attack points were not strong/clear enough. Went hard from the outset and was fairly clean (slightly off-line to #7) until 12 when I took 4.56 to go 250m. Dylan did 2.50 for the same leg (on Blue). I think I actually took the wrong ditch as my parallel line and therefore ended up in vague forest 200m north of the site with nothing making sense (obviously!). Also explains why my compass didn't make entire sense on the leg. I finally relocated off the large earth bank, ran down until I could see the windfall and then headed through to the rootstock. 3 mins burnt! After that, put my head down and ran hard hitting everything else cleanly. Apart from the error, I really enjoyed the forest - beautifully white with good opportunities to practise ahead of JK. Pleased to get under the hour, even with the time loss.
