Warm up before the Mid race. Made good use of the sample map and managed to get my head round the detail.

Made good start to the race - though ended up on the wrong side of the crag at 2 (losing 40 seconds). Pushing pace to 3 and 4 before disaster. Fell flat on face charging down the path to 4. Badly bruised knee and avoided connecting my head to a rock by inches. Shaken and deeply stirred. Walked and then hobbled to 4, jogged to 5. Picked up pace and got back into things when Andrew Preston passed me. We traded a few controls before I got dropped. Felt heavy and tired - perhaps the fall took it out of me? Seem to lose time on a number of controls - 17, 25, 27. Disappointed with performance - splits reveal i never really got into things, though perhaps I shouldnt be too hard given what happened so early in the couse. Should feel lucky I wasnt wheeled out in an ambulance. A shame - thought it was a great course in a truly challenging 'little' area.
