Brown course at High Ash - event was originally planned for February but postponed at last minute... obviously what was white forest in Feb was definitely worse come October: plenty of grot, nettles and brambles to contend with, hence the running time which was slower than I would have hoped for. Was pretty clean throughout, except for a wrong route out of the misplaced 16 which cost me 30 secs or so. Other slight hesitations amounting to not much more than 30 secs too. Overall - pleasing.

First interval session on bike: 3 x 10 mins (5 mins easy): using Heath Rd and Exning Rd to Burwell/Reach: 5.05km, 4.87km, 5.1km. Beautiful afternoon for session.

Usual 20 mins around the gym, followed by 10 mins on the step-machine, getting to the 48th floor :)

Getting smoother and faster - 5.21 and 5.09. Felt particularly good over the final 6 lengths.

Home from WVC and decided to jog/walk (with Cocoa) to IVC for the Govs meet as it was such a beautiful afternoon. Calf tightened towards end and top of right hammy was sore too, but all worth it - and arrived with 10 mins to spare!

Decided to brave the terrain/course at Formby and didnt regret it. Walked and easy jogged the course with Cocoa for added challenge (although she was fantastic as ever). Found it challenging judging distance at such a relatively slow tempo and certainly took a while to adjust. No major errors, although found a couple quite difficult to locate. Calf was a little sore but I kept it easy and walked the tougher bits. Beautiful afternoon in the sun!

4 x 200m with a 35 secs recovery - very tough session and probably went off too fast: 4.11, 4.24, 4.27, 4.34.
