40 min fartlek around Brand and Kings... as expected, i felt tired n laboured to be running fast so relatively early, but pleasing to stick with it: 3.54 (1.02), 5.44 (BF Mile) (1.03), 3.44 (1.01), 5.28 (1.06), 6.17 (1.06), 3.16 (0.45), 3.16 (0.45), 1.24.

Started with a pacey lap of 6M loop (40.21) then into LT pace run of (3M) River Loop (17.35) followed by easy loop of 6M (42.38). Felt tired n pretty shattered but pleased to have done something like i wanted to do.

Put alarm on - partly get out early but also to get back to watch the rugby. Felt tired n v heavy legged from the session yesterday which was probably too close to the longest run in recent years, so cut back to 13. Lap of 7M (51.15) + 6M (41.53). Cold out (4c) n was in gloves n long sleeves, but still shorts.

4 x BF Mile (LT pace) with 60 secs rec... felt fine n ran them as required as 'comfortably hard' - 5.40, 5.41, 5.38, 5.38. Lovely calm n mild Autumnal late afternoon.

And easy pace of 2.3 laps of BF and back home... good old-fashioned physically fatigued by end.

Cracking run from hotel over to REgents Park for a big loop and then over by Zoo into Primrose Hill for 4 laps inlcuding ascents of the hill itself. Felt pretty strong n maintained v good pace.

Awake early so got up to do some work and then out before 6 for a decent steady run - exactly the sort you need to do pre-marathon. Did 2 laps of the 6M (41.35 + 42.40) - ran the first lap more perkily than the second n certainly felt tired by the end.

Have decided that running a tough cross-country race is so much easier than organising one... still the punters were happy n kids seemed to enjoy the course, especially the creative use of sand instead of thick mud. Did a short fartlek session running, watching n cheering on the teams - the 2 Boys' teams won... woo-hoo!

Was tempted to tick 'ill' as felt decidedly dodgy today - a combination of 3 weeks of hard training, a first full month of school and 2 late nights this week. With a dose of good sense, i've resolved to cut the mileage to 40 this week on the basis of the advice of 3 weeks hard, 1 week easier; will increase the load from Monday and do 40 this week.

Another very good long run - 2 laps of the 6M and one of the River... felt a bit delicate first thing (le vin!), but recovered as I got going. Took a bottle at end of first lap (41.28) and increased the tempo to 'Marathon' pace for the second 6M (37.15) and then easy for the River (23.03). The 6M is possibly short by 400m or so, but it will be good to use for the duration to monitor progress etc. Just as well I got out early - it was clear n crisp first thing (11c) though the thermo climbed steadily.

Steady run with Dylan around the cathedral n then back down on the river to Tesco n back via Kings. Felt a bit laboured.
