5 AM

Running 32:30 [3] 4.5 mi (7:13 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Asics Kayano

Monday Mar 29, 2010 #

6 PM

Off-road running 37:05 [2] 5.0 mi (7:25 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics Attacks

Felt tired throughout the day and had felt uncertain about getting out... managed it and had a decent easy run - golf course n laps of Brand spurred along in the wind n rain by the sonic fury of Meshuggah. Sweet!

Sunday Mar 28, 2010 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Intergrator 2

From car park to start and back after the event...

Orienteering race 43:55 [4] ** 7.3 km (6:01 / km) +55m 5:48 / km
spiked:19/23c shoes: Intergrator 2

Brown course on Epping South. Generally straight-forward O-ing, though forest very, very wet, but as well all parts of the forest, the vegetation can force errors - made a good start, but took wrong path to 9, losing about 40 secs, another small miss at 10 and then lost track of paths to 14 and lost another 30-40 secs; made final error at 18 when went down the wrong opening and had to loop around. The time here includes the road crossing which will be deleted from the final results. Generally felt tired n not too great ahead of the JK.

Saturday Mar 27, 2010 #

5 PM

Off-road running 23:39 [2] 3.5 mi (6:45 / mi)

Friday Mar 26, 2010 #

5 AM

Running 53:30 [3] 7.0 mi (7:39 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics Kayano

Early start and run to College. Felt pretty bouncy after a couple of days of slobbing.
7 AM

Circuits 42:00 [5]

The usual but on my lonesome this morning. Made good use of the quiet to really push and focus... 20 x 60 secs, 20 x 30 secs with run in between stations.

Tuesday Mar 23, 2010 #

5 AM

Running 1:20:04 [3] 10.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
slept:4.6 shoes: Asics Kayano

I must be mad... didnt get to bed until well after midnight having been to see Frank Turner at UEA (excellent :)) and then woke smartly just after 5 to run to work which i did with a long extension. Felt tired n drained but pleased to have got the run in.

Off-road running 37:34 [2] 5.0 mi (7:31 / mi)

Sunday Mar 21, 2010 #

10 AM

Off-road running warm up/down 8:00 [2] 0.8 mi (10:00 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Integrator

Jog to the start... nearly missed it! Forest on the way looked very inviting.... that was cruel to us!

Orienteering race 1:58:57 [5] *** 15.3 km (7:46 / km) +395m 6:53 / km
spiked:30/34c shoes: Intergrator 2

National Event at Belvoir Castle. Really felt the effects of the stomach problems over the weekend and suffered from the outset - felt drained and very tired as though I had had a virus or something like that. Never got into flow and decent running which was a shame as I could and would have run well today on the evidence of Friday's hard run (probably had the potential to run close to 100mins?). Made just a few slight slips but nothing major and mostly just grumbled my way round. Had considered retiring at the spectator but pride and obstinacy kept me going even though I was never able to push it with my stomach. Got caught on way to 9 by Richard G but he was on the other butterfly and I caught Nev B at the end, but managed to lose time at the last which was an interesting control in the green. Even though it was tough and unpleasant in parts, I enjoyed the variety of the terrain and legs.

Saturday Mar 20, 2010 #

5 AM

Running 35:00 [2] 4.5 mi (7:47 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Asics Kayano

Ran very easy around town but guts still felt bad... last night was particularly dodgy and was in bed asleep by 10. Legs tired but taking it easy today should ensure ok for tomorrow... I hope!

Friday Mar 19, 2010 #

12 PM

Off-road running warm up/down 50:00 [3] 7.0 mi (7:09 / mi)
slept:5.5

Preparing the field for the Comic Relief run, long steady warm up and 2 miles warm down after the run.
1 PM

Off-road running tempo 22:20 [5] 4.0 mi (5:35 / mi)

Wow! Pulled through first mile by strong n fast Year 10 before pushing on in 2-3 miles... did a 1.24 (400m) round the track at the start of the 3rd mile and clocked by a teacher doing 5.30s so course was pretty accurate. Pleased to have run that strong and fast... but stomach suffered afterwards.

Thursday Mar 18, 2010 #

Sunday Mar 14, 2010 #

10 AM

Off-road running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 1.6 mi (9:22 / mi)
slept:7.5

Warm up on tracks before hand and then 2 ascents and manic-descents of the Big Dipper for the 'fun' of it.... no wonder Steve Ovett broke the records he did!

Orienteering race 1:10:33 [4] ***** 9.1 km (7:45 / km) +250m 6:49 / km
spiked:24/26c

Brown course on Merthyr Mawr. Started well but then chose the 'wrong' route to 5... should have stayed low and ran through the start/car park before ascending beyong the Big Dipper. In the end, I lost contact and drifted low in the forested slope; re-located off 6, but lost 5+mins in the process and met up with Peter Bray. O'ed together for the rest of the course, trading the lead at different times - I was ahead on the top, he on the lower rougher slopes, me again in the dunes and then him; he finally got ahead from 25 to 26 (youth!). Reasonably pleased and it was a lovely weekend trip.

Orienteering race 39:31 [3] ***** 4.5 km (8:47 / km) +200m 7:11 / km
spiked:12/15c

Green with a Twist.... contour-only map at Oxwich Burrows. Headless chick-chick for first 3 controls (12 mins!) and then took control, focused and O-ed ok for the rest of the course.
12 PM

Orienteering 30:00 [3] 3.5 km (8:34 / km)

After the event, went back out and did some different routes and stuff.

Didnt feel too good this morning so only did a simple warm-up/down.

The usual.... 20 x 60 secs, 20 x 35 secs (run in-between). Felt very laboured this morning.

Thursday Mar 11, 2010 #

7 AM

Off-road running 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

In spite of late night and a few drinks (!), got out for the perfect restoration. Out and back along Rutland Water - enjoying the chill and clear skies. Even found some tasty hills to run hard up.

Wednesday Mar 10, 2010 #

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Bad day... felt low and went to bed at 4.30 - slept for 1.5 hours and only woke from phone call from Scott inviting out for a game of snooker. 1-1 - and my long-potting was to die for! A few drinks and some good company lifted my low spirits.
