orienteering (Gumeracha not-Goldfields) 1:14:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon bluegreen

Went to bed early last night because I was so tired, but couldn't sleep for stressing about all the rogaine stuff which I have to get done this weekend, and the fact that I am having to focus on the Aust Champs simultaneously because the deadline for the final map is when Manu leaves. So I really didn't feel like going to test run one of Vincent's courses today, but I convinced G to come along as chauffeur, and it was a nice morning even though I was exhausted by the time I'd run the 1.5km into the forest from the nearest locked gate, and I had to stop & catch my breath at every control site. There's some lovely open pine forest, some lightly wooded/open grazing with rocks (not unlike Hill Park Dale) and some completely awful Acacia paradoxa which, since we are not in NT, we can't use a flamethrower on but will at least set the courses so that there are mostly track routes around it.

Spent the afternoon driving/walking around Morphett Vale & Christies Creek checking a few things for the 17th and am now doing rogaine map updates...

Note
(rest day)

Hit the wall after working 12 days straight because Repat refugees don't get an RDO. Still, with the overtime from last weekend I may be able to afford the fact that return flights to Europe in June are now $3000.

running (Belair) 1:03:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Trainline-steps loop with Zara/Callum, from hers on an autumnal evening. Still embarrassingly coughy/spluttery & she had to wait for me at the top of every hill, but feeling better than a week ago and so glad to be no longer on call.

swimming 34:00 [3] 1.0 km (34:00 / km)

Strange to have such a dry mouth when in the pool but I think it's because I am so anxious about the council permission (or lack thereof) for the rogaine which is now not much more than 2 weeks away...
6 PM

orienteering (Apex Park sprint relay) 21:40 [4] 2.9 km (7:28 / km)
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Paired with Angus, each team member ran 3 short legs:
6:45
8:17
6:38
I had trouble getting across the (deep, dry) creek each time and we ended up 3rd 'cos I can't run anywhere near as fast as the junior boys, but then there was a mental exercise matching up the elevation profiles of hypothetical legs with the contours on the map, and I think we managed to complete this before any other team did, also before I had to head off to nationals meeting.

running (Morialta) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

A bit of a run fail because I kept fielding calls from work (I have come to hate the fairy tinkles of the on call phone; it even rings when I'm in the bathroom...) and also because I was feeling pretty wiped from negotiations with Onkaparinga Council who seem to think that they need to get us to submit a separate permit application for every one of 45 rogaine control sites!

running 33:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Up through the uni pine forest (are they going to have a security guard sitting on the footbridge above the gorge forever more now after someone fell to their death before Christmas?) to Bellevue Heights and back down Shepherds Hill Rd, before WA committee meeting. Legs rather hammered from riding yesterday - because the bike shop put the seat up when it got serviced last week - but this was still a minute quicker than previously.

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:06:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:23 / km)

Nice autumn afternoon for a ride along the creek after a morning at work and before spending 5hrs with parents on control placement & other rogaine map updates/corrections. I am very excited because I worked out how to draw a roundabout in OCAD!
