Thought I'd better do the longest course as next Saturday won't exactly be short & sweet. And certainly this map had rather more in common with the Warbys than with a really intricate goldmining area. Phil had set a number of good short legs early on, some of which I stuffed up - was one ruin too low on 1, lost a couple of minutes on 2 because I looked up the hill from the ditch end at the earthbank I wanted but couldn't see the control (found it a couple of minutes later - it was in a pit at the foot of the earthbank) and more than once I climbed higher up the hill than I needed to. Overshot 16 on a long downhill leg by being about 200m further down the creek than necessary. Feel that I may have lost as much as 8-10 min all up on this course? Was generally out of breath and a bit preoccupied, never really fast, neuroma played up from halfway but I managed the distance okay, and it was a lovely sunny day with nice wildflowers (and friends). Time for an easy week, methinks.
