2.8 km 80m climb Brown course at GREEN Lane Park (and I mean green, tho it wasn't usually spiky), set by Glen. I got there early so I could take over registration such that John G could go out and enjoy the woods too.

Day started out foggy at home, then showers on the way to the site, but it stopped by the time I arrived about 20 minutes before first start. Sun hitting the wet woods plus high humidity anyway meant that everything fogged up--glasses and magnifier--making it hard to read detail.

It seemed like I was moving awfully slow, but other than Sam K (who did better than half my time, as his second course), I was fastest on the course. The navigation didn't seem all that difficult; just finding the less-thick paths through. I tooktrails as much as possible.

2-3 I hesitated a lot (finding open-ish woods before the actual mapped clearing), and 3 to the road I was a bit farther right than expected before the road crossing but was then where I wanted to be leaving the field beyond it. By this time I couldn't see through my glasses though I attempted to clear and use them, struggling, until I was out of the woods from 8-9.

Finished and downloaded and showed two mps. I did have to wait a long time at 1 to wake up the control, but after seeing others in the area through 3-4 I didn't think about it anymore...turned out I hadn't waited long enough to wake those other two up (5 and 11), but John kindly reinstated me. The hazards of being first finisher...

Sat at registration/download for a couple hours or so, then picked up a couple of controls (my 9 and 10) after everyone was finally in around 3:00.

Saucon Rail Trail, from Living Memorial Park near the south terminus to Bingen Road just past Reading Drive parking, and back.

I wore a heart rate strap, so those readings should be better than usual.

Took narrow path through woods on the way back; I think it's a walking loop (gravel, slightly coarser than what's on the rail trail) but it didn't say no bicycles so I went. One dog-walker who had her dog under control (as did all the others I encountered, but I encountered mostly other bikers).

And a very large fungus growing by a large tree. Glen said he saw some of these at Green Lane too.

Neighborhoods, including across 309. Stopped my watch on the first crossing (because it was a long wait*) but didn't need to on the way back.

* Traffic lights at Lanark Rd and Center Valley Parkway create convenient gaps (if you're patient) at the crossing point about midway. A light will remain at Lanark, but sometime in the future they want to reconstruct the 309/Center Valley Parkway intersection into some kind of interchange due to all the accidents that have happened there (at least two or three fatals in the short time we've lived here).
