Reykjavik Marathon and Half-Marathon (Maryann)
9 AM

Running (dirt) warm up/down 5:53 [3] 0.48 mi (12:09 / mi) +4m 11:51 / mi
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 2

Running (dirt) race 36:02 [4] 3.12 mi (11:33 / mi) +100m 10:30 / mi
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 2

Landis Arboretum "6th Perennial Cross Country 5K Forest Run", in Esperance, NY. Temps in the mid 60s, sunny and dry, made for very pleasant conditions. We had run the 1st incarnation of this run back in 2007 and remembered it as a great course. My time this year was only 19 seconds slower (due to extra pounds? extra walking this time around?). I had to walk up a few of the hills (all fairly short), especially the steepest one before the one mile mark.

They didn't paint *all* the roots this time around, but the biggest toe-stubbers were highlighted with neon paint.

Finished 2nd in F50-59 again (of 7 this year), but first place was only about 17 seconds ahead of me; I had passed her in the last mile but she got me back with a few tenths to go and I couldn't keep up. Prizes this year were discs cut from fallen branches of the 400+ year old white oak on the property and finished with polyurethane(?).

Approx. 70 finishers

Walking 31:00 [3] 2.0 mi (15:30 / mi) +4m 15:24 / mi
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 #6 - H

Didn't want to walk the whole 4+ miles to the library (round trip) so parked about a mile away from it and walked from there and back to the car.

I was stopped twice by drivers looking for directions. (I have missed that! I love telling people where to go. :-) )

Note

Nosy (2nd post). What if he doesn't want to say?
10 AM

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

No tools. Modified moves that required right shoulder strength, but it's still a bit achy. Nothing to stress the knee, though (no lunges like on Tuesday).
11 AM

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 35:00 [2]
shoes: Sauc.Shad.6000#7-2012H

Intended to go longer but feet were getting tender. Decided to do some erging instead.

500m, 2:25 Hadn't done this in awhile so took it easy.

12@75# and 12@70 adductors, 9 pulldowns @68.75#
Basta.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Started right in on aerobics, and didn't do any stretching until later. (Usually she warms us up for about 5 minutes or so and then does a few stretches.) Right hip and lower back were feeling tight so I had to stop a few times to stretch.

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

Used rings today. We haven't used them in months.
11 AM

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Sauc.Shad.6000#7-2012H

Did 3 minutes of the hill interval program at level 3. Left knee not happy so I switched to level 2 for 17 minutes. Then 10 minutes with no program, just cranking around. I would like my knee to 'get over it,' please, and let me get on with training.

Strength 5:00 [0]
shoes: Sauc.Shad.6000#7-2012H

Note: Elliptical 'distance' was 1.5 mi.

2*12@70# adductors (second set with someone hovering, waiting to use the machine next); 9@68.75# pulldowns (or maybe ten--I was distracted by the podcast I was listening to)

Running (dirt) (trails) 38:37 [3] 2.36 mi (16:23 / mi) +133m 13:56 / mi
shoes: Trail NB 705 8.5D

Slow jog at the Powell Bird Sanctuary in Old Chatham, walking most of the uphills. Gotta get back into running outside sometime. (Hot humid weather keeps me indoors as much as below-freezing weather in the winter.)
