Orienteering race 1:41:53 [4] *** 6.0 km (16:59 / km) +260m 13:57 / km
spiked:8/11c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #3

Day 2 green Y at GNC. While climb was noted at 50% more than advertised yesterday, I don't think I climbed as much, taking the 'around the deep reentrants' more often.

Good through 6 then bobbled attackpoint near 7 and wandered a bit before relocating. On 8 I took route through woods south of frisbee golf course and thought I rounded the 'green' properly but apparently followed the next gully, for a minute lost. Biggest error was 9--I crossed wide reentrant south of 8 thinking I was crossing the one east, and ran down the wrong spur! Relocated from the 4 stone pillars. Okay from there on in.

Meg P had an awesome run, under an hour today, a couple minutes behind her dad.

Monday Edit: FR said 8.8 km (AP widget says 9.08, 190m climb). No results posted yet. Weather on Sunday was SO much nicer than on Saturday, with temps around 60 and overcast. I did not feel all wiped out after running as I did Saturday (when I went in search of salt --in the form of Goldfish-- on the ride back to the motel and then went to bed early).

Orienteering race 1:20:57 [4] *** 5.4 km (14:59 / km) +180m 12:51 / km

Green Y course (F50), day 1 at Georgia Navigator Cup where there was a nice turnout for the SE interscholastics but not much else; 3 F50s registered, only 2 ran; one F45, and an F-20 were all the women on Green Y. The older men also ran Green Y with fastest time turned in by Tim Parson, around 48 min.

Monday update: added track -- FR registered 6.621 km, 172 m climb
12 PM

Note

(Hard to do a longer-than-five-lines entry on the iPod.) I felt like a slug on the uphills (and we get more tomorrow!), and didn't have quite the right attackpoint to 4, but recovered after going far enough and realizing I had to correct to the right. Mapping a bit flaky in a couple of areas but I didn't let it bother me. Road routes to 5 and 6. Saw Charlie Bleau (meet registrar) out there a few times at controls but thought he could've been on a different Green (he wasn't). Nice bright red shirt helped a bit at 5.

Very warm (80, with a nearly-noon start). FR track later...

2nd of the 4 women (Meg Parson did about 61 min) on the course. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow (I can only hope), and earlier starts by about 2 hours.

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

Weight on rebound. Last night's lasagna didn't help. Ah, well.

Pilates, using rings to really work the hips.

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Level 2 program this time; resistance varied between '5' and '15'. Sped up when at 5, a bit slower on 15; went 'farther' than last time, 1.78 mi. MHR noted was 140.

Fitness equipment (rower) 10:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

And again on the erg machine. I watched the 'how to do it' video on the concept II website last night and learned I wasn't finishing the stroke by leaning back at the extension. Went farther in the same time as Tuesday, and with a lower stroke rate (25-26/min). Damper set at 6.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Chatham class. My exercise buddy (lady I usually stand near, and chat with), turns 80 tomorrow. :-)

Note

After a cool, damp morning, the sun started to come out and warm the ground. This photo also shows the little bit of snow that remains in the field behind us.

Walking 51:49 [3] 3.32 mi (15:35 / mi) +48m 14:55 / mi

Temp around 50 and partly sunny -- how could I resist?

Hamstring achy after first mile, but tolerable. Stopped about halfway to stretch and had a hard time restarting.

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

Yo-yo weight up again. Ugh.

Only weights today, but enough down-dogs on hands/knees that right shoulder started bothering again. Made sure to do pull-downs later.

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 30:30 [3]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Tried out level 3, which was rather harder than level 1. Will try 2 next time. ;-). MHR noted was 127. Distance calculated was 1.64, a bit less than on Thursday for the same time (but this was harder and knees were ready to complain). Feet didn't really like this--tinglyness on the bottoms (autocorrect wanted to put 'gunfighter' for tinglyness!).

After erging (see next) did adductors and pull downs before stretching.

Fitness equipment (Concept 2 rower) 10:03 [1]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

1500m, damper set at 5
1000m time was 6:55, so it looks like I picked it up a little in the last 500. Tried to make sure I did a complete stroke. I'm limited in how far forward I can reach both by arm length and how 'folded over' I can get.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

In Chatham. Snow flurries this morning, but nothing's sticking. This weekend should be better. ;-)
