Orienteering race 14:14 [3] 3.5 km (4:04 / km) +20m 3:57 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (3)

Had been looking forward to this race for weeks. It was awesome!
Had the same start time as Jamie so we both set off hard. Orienteered well, could have pushed harder in the middle and near the end but qualified comfortably so didn't need to. Came 4th on my heat and only 4 seconds off 3rd! Very pleased to make the A final!

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (3)

Warming up and down for each race

Orienteering 13:38 [4] 3.0 km (4:33 / km) +20m 4:24 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (3)

The A final! Didn't have much pressure for this race so just ran hard to see how many seniors I could beat! Again ran well, made a couple of small errors, but apart from that couldn't have done much better. Could have pushed harder towards the end through the spectator. Very pleased with the result, tied with Jonny for first junior!

Orienteering 31:00 [4] 5.1 km (6:05 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (3)

Orienteering training on Brereton Heath with Lewis. Brereton is a flat wooded area with lots of paths and vague features so goo training for Strensall.
Four courses - all technical, changes of direction and lots of information to process quickly. Had a couple of minutes between each one. Ran the third one twice.

Running 15:00 [3] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Free Run+ 2

Jog from Chorley station to the assembly area used for the British sprints in 2010. Back again afterwards.

Orienteering 28:00 [4] 7.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Free Run+ 2

Ran each heat, staying in the housing estate. This was a brilliant sprint race 2 years ago, and it was just as I remembered. Each loop about 1.7km long, taking about 7 minutes. Had a few minutes rest between each one. Focused on flowing, planning ahead and knowing what was coming next.
Great fun and quality training for next weekend.

Heat 1 - 1.75km, 7:15
Heat 3 - 1.7km, 7:05
Heat 4 - 1.66km, 6:46
Heat 2 - 1.53km, 6:31
