Orienteering race (LittleBennett Night Short) 1:13:08 [3] *** 4.4 km (16:37 / km) +130m 14:29 / km
weight:173lbs shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Map with tracks

Everything felt so easy, not that I was going super fast.  But, I wasn't struggling up the hills, or anything.  So much fun!  Just one major area from 1-2, and two phone calls while out on the course - one outgoing and one incoming.  ;)  And, I only used one of the three lights I was carrying.  One big fall, but as I was going down I managed to avoid landing on my hands, so I escaped any injuries.

About 60 starts, and a nice crowd of regulars hanging around the tent, made for an excellent evening.   Thanks to Dan for her willingness to man the computer.

Actual distance traveled was 3.94 miles with 213 m climb.

Biking 1:03:44 [2] 12.1 mi (5:16 / mi)
weight:174lbs shoes: Bike Sandals

Tough conditions again today with half the trip into 8-10 mph headwinds. I sure hope that all this biking into the wind will make the biking on calm days at least seem easier. But it was sunny, and I got a ride in after taking my bike to work in my car, so no complaints.

Walking warm up/down 10:00 [1] 0.7 mi (14:17 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Slept poorly last night (like 1 hour), so I "called" in to work that I would be late and slept two more hours from 8-10 AM. So, the whole day was behind, and I was grumpy and didn't feel like tackling the windy (12 mph) run back and forth in the wind tunnel. So, I came home and rested with Roger and then did the treadmill instead. Five minutes each warm up and cool down.

And speaking of grumpy (her mother's description), here is the latest on Lailah.

Running (Treadmill Program) 50:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) 4.6 mi (10:52 / mi)
weight:174lbs shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Favorite program of 1 minute each at 5.0, 6.0, 5.0, 5.4, 6.4 mph x 10. Though I did the third one at 5.1, 6.1, 5.1, 5.5, 6.5.

This workout felt really good, and though it was hard at the end, I wasn't struggling.

Weight back down this morning. Perhaps I am over the pizza bump.

Walking 1:00:46 [1] 4.18 mi (14:32 / mi) +54m 13:59 / mi
weight:176lbs shoes: Z Hiking Boots

Around the neighborhood following a rest period after work.

Weight up another pound for the second day in a row. May need to concentrate on getting that hungry feeling, something that I have actually avoided during my L&F effort.

Biking (Commute in) 27:00 [1] 5.8 mi (4:39 / mi) +11m 4:38 / mi

Biking (Home & East Falls Church) 1:23:50 [1] 16.01 mi (5:14 / mi) +110m 5:08 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Ten miles of headwind from work, past home, to where I turned around at Lee Hgwy. Inbound to home was a lot more fun. I wanted to stop at 5.5, so I am very happy with the bonus miles. I am going to celebrate the hard effort (extra calories) with homemade pizza and some wine.
4 PM

Biking 5:55 [2] 0.61 mi (9:42 / mi) +38m 8:07 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Had to walk the first third of the hill, otherwise I was afraid I might fall over while clipped in.

A beautiful day for a ride.

Trail Run (Lake Accotink) 1:30:49 [2] 8.29 mi (10:57 / mi) +155m 10:21 / mi
weight:174lbs shoes: NB 1064 Blue

OK, Roger had grounds for being confused this morning. First I said I was going to PWNF, but then I decided I would do the last of the control checking after race timing at the park next Sunday. So, then I said I would ride my bike later, but by the time I came downstairs I had decided on Lake Accotink for a run.

Hoped to be able to do two loops and the spur for 8+ miles, and the plan was to run as much as I could on the first loop/spur (4.55 miles) and bank enough of a "lead" so that I could average 11:15 per mile for the second loop (3.75 miles). Met that goal easily by averaging 10:57 per mile. This workout felt pretty darn good, and I was quite pleased with myself. It was also one of the quickest efforts in 2-3 years.

It was a beautiful morning to be out, and the lake was lovely, for a scuzzy urban lake.

Mowing/Yard (Cleaning the gardens) 1 [0]

After lunch and a nap with Roger, we spent a couple of hours in the yard cleaning out the gardens.
