Declaring myself fully recovered, and actually being motivated to run are two very different mental challenges for me, but also closely interrelated.
So, I decided to use the cliche of starting out the new year right to get back in the groove. Figured I would start small and aim for at least 15 minutes total. Temps at 42 F and no wind. Long sleeves and pants. Loop to the school, down the hill, and into the park. Tried to breathe through my nose as much as possible, but my lungs still hurt a little bit to breathe in deeply. Going along well enough that I changed my goal to 15 minutes running before I walked the rest. First mile easy with the help of the downhill, and then I really pushed to keep at 10 min/mile pace for the rest of it.
New shoes have asymmetrical lacing. Very weird to look at my feet in these shoes. Comfortable though.
