Orienteering race (NAOC Sprint) 29:00 [2]

Nine weeks post surgery. Out of the boot, though I wore it on the first couple of days here. Then just an ankle brace.

Figured today was the day I could manage a course, however, the walk to the start nearly did me in. Decided to go on out anyway, even though a ride back to the arena was probably a wiser option. I was feeling badly that I was likely going to be the last person who finished. Turns out I wasn't, and I didn't finish last in F55, though I walked every step, or perhaps you might say I limped every other step.

Highlights of the trip :
Traveling with Sandy and Amy has gone well, except maybe for the peanut butter incident.
Inara likes to hang with her "Aunt" Valerie.
Driving around here is so easy, with the exception of the below truck meets car incident.
Great people at the events, and the scenery is fantastic.
Thanks to the assistance of Amy and Sandy, we have set up the results displays each day, and that has been well received, apart from some flaky wi-fi.

Have been enjoying my time here in the Yukon, mostly the Whitehorse area. Well, except tangling with an 18 wheeler yesterday. Oh, not as bad as it sounds...truck crossed just over the white line just as we were both starting to go forward when the light turned green. Barely touched the driver's side of the car, and damaged the door, and the window cracked as well. Jean-Phillipe was quite the sweetheart, and he immediately acknowledged that he was at fault. When we parted, I gave him a hug.

I was a little nervous because we skipped contacting the police, but today I contacted them [edit: the insurance company] directly, and everything is in place for his insurance company to cover the damage with the rental car company. As backup, I did get him to give a "deposition" in a voice memo on my phone, in case he had selective memory loss.

Three more days, and I will be back home with Pepper and Roger.
