Orienteering! (Orange Long) 1:34:35 [4] 5.3 km (17:51 / km) +175m 15:19 / km
shoes: Saucony guide

much cleaner than yesterday. messed up 6-7 and 7-8. some others were slightly "bobbled" but nothing as bad as yesterday.

Either I can't count or I need to re pace count. I think its a combo. I kept getting to things at the wrong time. probably a product of running more.

I also need to do more map work, more running not on roads. I need run hills and practice using my compass. so basically, i just need more practice. I have decided that on rainy days there should be a penalty loop for non glasses wearers. (aka, i NEED to get contacts!). my knee also needs to get better. It made the end of today very uncomfortable.

the end. basically, this was a load of fun and a terrific learning experience!!! I have lots to do and am excited about it!!

I stepped right onto a glass bottle and broke it. it took me i while to figure out what it had been, and i didnt do anything about it. I hope no one fell on it.

yoga/strecthing (stretching/yoga/pt) 25:00 [3]

Running (random) 25:00 [3]

random stuff, warming up, running around getting shoes and stuff, soccer/spin tag interlude. also sprinting to dinner. definitely the fastest I've ever run in my life. we got there as the bell was tolling... (I dont think I've used that word before). and they had sweet potatoes so the sprint was totally worth it.

Note

Reflection my First A-Meet:

I had an amazing weekend and I learned a lot, starting with not locking my keys in the trunk and how to get my car out of the mud. I learned how meets work and got a lot of good practice in. I also think that Orienteers are probably the nicest people ever. Converging upon Chipotle and then going on the Blair Witch Project expedition was a blast as well (not so much the actual movie...).

thank you to...

Holly Kuestner who started the madness at UNC. And who is in general awesome except when she sits on the grapes, makes exclamations about water parks whilst I am driving, and losing stuff in a cubic meter space. but she is especially awesome at search and rescue.
Kate Blackwell for her calmness and amazing skills at being my copilot. And for being an awesome team member and encouraging me to "kick it in" which I can't get out of my head.
Amelia Kennedy for the peaches and cherries and going over maps and stretching and being an incredible second leg. And for acquiring our first protege (her bro) who is going to be part of our five year plan (so, he needs to skip some grades... and go to unc...)
Catherine Olosson (please excuse my spelling...) for being an amazing driving buddy and dealing with the cops and AAA and reminding me to take breaks and making the car ride more fun.
Sue Kuestner for figuring out the hotel room and the food and for being amazingly supportive and encouraging and for doing the sprint basically together.
Valerie Meyers for the support, encouragement, and pink marker.
Mrs. Kennedy and the West Point people for rescuing my car.
Everyone on Orange w/ whom I discussed route choice.
The Juniors for being the coolest, nicest, most welcoming ppl ever.
Chipotle, for the food and putting up w/ our mass of people.
My mother and sister for not going insane about the incident of friday night.
All the people, coast to coast, who helped us get from UNC to the hotel in one piece.
My car for holding it together... hahaha
All the people in my car for putting up w/ my interesting driving and keeping me calm and awake and making everything much more fun.

Dance (int jazz/stretching) 1:15:00 [3]

Running (RUNNING!!) 26:44 [3] 3.23 mi (8:17 / mi)
shoes: Saucony guide

nice run w/ Holly and Kate. I love running w/ ppl because no matter how slow I feel like I'm going or how not into it I feel, my pace always seems to be better. I like this loop. esp ending on the down hill. I want to work on this loop some more and then find a 5k to run. anybody want to do a 5k w/ me?

Running (mini track workout thing) 7:46 [3] 1.0 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: Saucony guide

hard lap: 1:40
energy systems lap: 2:06
acceleration & fartlek lap- I forgot to look at the split. probably about 2 each.

fun stuff. I like doing this.

I am now at 90 miles on these shoes. I feel like I should get myself something when I reach 100.

Hiking/Walking (cool down) 5:00 [3]

yoga/strecthing (stretching/pt) 10:00 [3]

rolling on my h2o bottle. this was catastrophic in the gym cuz apparently the way i was rolling opened the cap to my bottle which then proceeded to leak all over me and the floor...oops...

IT band feeling iffy today on account of being mashed yesterday. but, overall, minimal knee pain and just soreness, so thats good.

Running (ZUMBA!) 1:00:00 [3]

accompanied by... AMELIA!!!!

Toning (the usual + abs/back/pt) 24:00 [3]

Running (running stadiums) 20:00 [4] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony guide

distance is fabricated. 20 min of stadiums and 3/4 of a lap. did 4 sets of stadiums.

Running (cool down lap) 2:18 [3] 0.25 mi (9:12 / mi)

yoga/strecthing (stretching/pt) 25:00 [3]

this should get an intensity of 5 for getting my it band mashed a bit. I think some people might call this a deep tissue massage. my leg feels interesting now. walking feels fantastic. My PT, Amanda, "worked" my it band w/ her elbows and thumbs while i extended my leg. then i foam rolled it for a good bit. She also poked/smashed my calf and I almost screamed, but at least its not a shin splint just a screwy tendon that needs to be stretched/strengthened. I foam rolled that too. its a in a place that is very difficult to foam roll. I've established that doing my calf stretch on one leg seems to get it stretched a bit. anyway, I'm supposed to be at Holly's, but I'm procrastinating/checking my email/giving her more time to work on her physics lab. we are going to practice starting cuz i've never raced in my life and the idea of having to start is scaring me. well, the whole idea of intercolligates in general is scaring me. I cannot spell intercollegiates for my life. the end.

Toning (Muscle Cut + stuff) 1:05:00 [3]

Amanda needs to stop being lame and making us end early... and forgetting to muscle groups and stretching for only 2 seconds and blah blah blah. i really want to do the FITP. Holly, Kate, and Amelia, you guys will have to come to my class at least once and yell at me if I do anything dumb.

Running (ZUMBA!!!) 1:02:00 [3]

Unlike Amanda, Abbey goes over which is nice. today was really fun. I was in a singy mood and kept singing even though I cant sing. did a bunch of my fave songs ("I'm so dangerous", "pokerface" and a bunch of ones I dont know the names of).

Part of women's night at the gym. also went to a self defense class where we shouted, "No", "Never", and "Stay where you are" about 100 times while punching, hammer punching, finger jabbing, and the punching where you use your palm thing. then i got some celery, pretzels, carrots, and half a banana and a cup that says cool stuff about sustainability and health, then I left. the end.
