Orienteering race 55:56 [5] 10.5 km (5:20 / km) +150m 4:58 / km
shoes: Icebug (iii)

Compass Sport cup qualifier - Ashridge
Team didn't make it which is a shame, but as ever it is tricky to compete across all the age groups
Couple of mistakes early on, doing everything right on the way to #2 except sticking with my bearing at the end (got pulled left where others were hunting in the pits), and having spotted #6 as tricky didn't then go carefully enough. Perhaps I was a bit over-eager knowing it is a fast area.
After that quite good, avoided a disaster when I set off from #10 to #12 but realised early enough to turn it into an iffy route choice rather than big time loss.
Didn't feel totally fresh physically, but that's the plan.

Kenyan hills
Tired, felt hard. Think the route is better the other way around especially so early. The first climb comes early on running clockwise, and put me a bit further into the red than I'd have liked. Anti-clockwise there's a mile or so to warm up.

3x(3x500m) with 60s recoveries and 2:30 between sets along the embankment
Good session to get my tired legs turning over quickly.
GPS was a complete mess for the first set, which I think meant I ran the first reps too fast thinking I was going too slow. Should probably have trusted myself a bit more.
But the last set was a fair reflection of the session, and bang on pace: 1:45, 39, 36.
