Gym 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:160lbs

In the gym with Eric. Did some deadlifts today, first time in quite a while. They don't seem to agree with me anymore, cause pressure in my R lower back. So I stopped. Interesting how I do so well with squats but the DLs are not ok. And otherwise some dumbbell squats, band work.

Hike 45:15 intensity: (4:18 @1) + (32:20 @2) + (8:19 @3) + (18 @4) 2.54 mi (17:50 / mi) +141m 15:12 / mi

Note

A visit to the foot doc for follow-up on my ankle, foot and peroneal tendon problems. Ankle is quite a bit better, peroneal tendon a bit better. He gave me an injection into the area of my Morton's neuroma, which should help with the foot pain. Other times this has bothered me the pain has been quite acute. This is more of a dull ache that gets worth with walking or running, but he poked around and said there was some definite thickening in the area and thought the injection would be beneficial.

Orienteering 47:11 intensity: (20:31 @1) + (14:34 @2) + (10:03 @3) + (1:57 @4) + (6 @5) 2.32 mi (20:20 / mi) +101m 17:55 / mi

Picking up controls I had put out for G&L, running the course, including a brief stop to see how high the marsh is at the bridge. Fairly high, not scary high.

Part of the usual routing while awaiting the return of Leslie behind the building. Turns out she never came there and was waiting in front.

Map and route.

1.
2. On trails, so some extra climb.
3. Saw John Rogers, who had started ahead of me and seemed to be wandering a bit in all the slash, but then just couldn’t make sense of things, got near it a few times, but circled around for quite a long time before going far enough. Strange thing is that for a good 7 or 8 minutes I didn’t see anybody, which made me think I was in completely the wrong place. 10 or @2 min lost there.
4. Drifted off to the right into the flat area, which should have been enough of a clue, and finally drifted a bit further until I saw the stream, and corrected from there. Probably another 5.
5. Saw George M ahead of me and going higher than I was. Got myself stuck on the smaller spur before the right one, wandered quite a long time, finally relocated from the funny little trail segment. Another 10.
6. Not so bad, stuck in some thick mountain laurel, but fought my was through.
7. Intended to take trails, cut the corner, but then got stuck again in laurel for what seemed like a long time before finding the trail. So some time lost, but not that bad once I got close.
8. Easy.
9. road around, then went to the wrong side of the depression, but otherwise ok.
10. This one was frustrating. Went to the depression and through but didn’t see the flag. It was just a little further, but instead I started imagining other depressions and went in a big circle.
11. Up on top and the. Headed along the spur. Somehow went right by it until the land started to go down, then turned back and saw it.
