climbing (bouldering) 1:00:00 [0]

Fontainebleau. "Rocher Guichot", the whole orange AD- course, page 170 of the guide. (28 problems between Fb2a and 3c.
In the end, we had time for a 4c and a 4b problem. I could succeed at the 4c but not at the 4b...

climbing (bouldering) 1:00:00 [0]

Fontainebleau. "Gorges d'Apremont"
Started the orange AD+ - course, page 47 of the guide. But in this area the boulders were scaringly high, so we changed to the yellow PD+, which we thought we could do even on high boulders. But the problems here were not only easier but also less high.

orienteering race 3:48:09 [3] ***** 16.0 km (14:16 / km) +500m 12:20 / km
spiked:61/77c shoes: VJ integrator

77-control orienteering on the map "Rocher de la Reine"
The terrain was hard to run on, and hot temperatures made the race even harder. I started in a slow speed, which I thought I could hold during the whole race. In fact, the speed was ok, and I could run till the end, but I got more and more problems in finding the controls, because my brain got tired as well.
16' mistakes on the first 44 controls
then another 24' on the other 33
During the whole race had 9x1', 2x3', 3x4', 1x6', 1x7' mistakes
The longer the race, the longer the mistakes...

But the whole race was great - I love doing long-distance stuff. It was longer and much more difficult than the 150-control-orienteering-race I had done in Spain in 2005 - there you usually had to take the direction and almost could see the next control.

Here in France, there were only three controls below 1' and 45 controls asked me more than 2 minutes...

climbing (bouldering) 1:00:00 [0]

Fontainebleau, just besides the finish of the orienteering race.
"Canche aux Merciers", we did numbers 21 to 39 of the orange "AD"-course (AD=assez difficile). Page 125 of the guide.
The problems between Fb2a and Fb4b (the boulder rating is different from the "usual" french scale: 5c, 6a, 6b, etc and they are not really comparable.
I'm not a good boulderer, so the following comparison is very individual. While I use to do 6a+ onsight, there are even Fb3b or Fb3c for which I need more than one try. With several tries I could do perhaps a 4c or 5a sometimes.

orienteering race 1:29:51 [4] ***** 7.0 km (12:50 / km) +300m 10:34 / km
spiked:15/21c shoes: VJ integrator

At the 3rd day, I did a bit better - the start was good (no mistakes till number 4, that is already good for the last few days ;-)
1' at 5
1' at 9
2' at 16 grrr
1' at 17
1' at 19 for what I had done the days before, this was quite ok,
but then I made a huge and very stupid mistake on the 2nd to the last control -> 4 Minutes more...
So 10' of mistakes again (and I didn't count what was less than a minute).
I would need more training on such terraine to be able to cope with it...
But the forest is beautiful !!!!!!
