Orienteering race 58:00 [3] 6.3 km (9:12 / km)

Ok race.
1- good start, took it easy. Followed the trail a bit then went pretty straight, missed a bit left.
2- good.
3- decided to go straight across the swamp which wasn't a bad idea. I walked up the hill, though...
4- good until just before the control. Stayed high and went to the top of the hill before descending down. Got confused with the contours and went left at first, but recovered. 30s.
5- Ran fast, didn't make a mistake.
6- almost perfectly straight... ish. Decided to attack the control straight on rather than follow the stone wall around.
7- straight, good.
8- Not very good. Stopped thinking, not sure why. Went pretty straight to start, but my approach was aweful. Ended up losing 2 minutes and was never more than 100 m from the control. Just being stupid...
9- good, straight.
10- Plan was to run between the marsh and the hill on the left, but went straight over, lost 10-15s there plus I stopped when I came to a cliff even, though I knew where I was already...
11- good.
12- silly... went around to the right, left was definitely the better choice.
13- missed to the right and hit the control on the dot-knoll. kinda recovered... lost 30s-1 min.
14- silly again. Went the right along the side of the hill. Shoulda gone straight.
15- fine.

RedX Middle qual. Clean run.
3 PM

Orienteering race 26:54 [4] 3.6 km (7:28 / km)

Not quite as good as the morning.
Found the trail to 1 so I gained a lot of time there.
Went low to 2, 3 seconds.
3 was clean.
4, lift the control a bad way then over corrected to the left and missed the control. 15-30s
5, good, except got distracted by a control in the first reentrant... 15s
6 good
7, coulda run straighter.
8, missed at the end, wasn't reading carefully enough and got a bit far left, corrected quickly, though. 10s
9, good.
10 good
11 ok, slow
12, didn't see the knoll before the control so overran it a bit. I should have run in the reentrant instead of the edge.
13, bad route. Saw the straight route, but decided to go hard around on the trail... A safe route for sure, but lost a lot of time. 1-1:30
14, fine

Orienteering 48:27 [3]

Picked up controls at shelburne farms. Dad did it in an hour plus 2 extras that were a ways away, but he drove to those, and two others that amounted to about 8 minutes running down the road that my dad drove on.
