Running 34:00 [3]

In Melbourne for a few days with friends and slipped out for a quick jog while they napped. Ran along the beach from St Kilda, a little rainy but it was nice! Not sure how much more than this I'll get to do. Plus my foot has pulled up a little sore today (Saturday :( )

Running 1:03:30 [3]

At Glenrock with some on and off company from mum. Yesterday's Easter chocolate binge had me feeling pretty below average but my legs were surprisingly strong up easy way out and my foot was pretty great! Got blisters in the arch of each foot though which isn't ideal, went for a walk this morning to try and get used to the orthotics but maybe that was a bad move. Anyway I had a tonne of fun, longest training jog in quite a while!

Running 34:00 [3]

Jog with Josh on the trails from home. Cannot believe how noticeable the new orthotics are, there's a fair few muscles in my lower legs which apparently haven't worked a lot in a while so they got super tight! Two spots where I think I might get blisters too so I may have to ease into it a bit, but the foot wasn't too bad at all!

Strength + Conditioning 15:00 [3]

Picked up my new orthotics and went for a walk along the beaches to start wearing them in. Legs are feeling a bit tired!

Orienteering race 50:45 [3]
(injured)

Not enough days in New Zealand to redeem myself. Started ok but I took a really silly route choice to 3 and couldn't really get past it mentally because I knew i'd lost so much time. Orienteered well 6-9 but I was so bad at dealing with the slippery ground that it didn't really make much of a difference. Then tried to go a bit too straight to 10 and hadn't planned how to navigate the cliffs closely enough and got stuck, and then stopped one cliff line too early aswell. Winsplits hasn't even picked up all my mistakes though so I think that shows I was just woeful in the slippery terrain, far too much of a weakling. Legs were struggling of course after three races but I feel like I was slightly stronger than I thought i'd be after the preparation, although the speed was definitely lacking. Extremely disappointed overall though. It was such a great chance to get such awesome race practice in such awesome terrain and I feel so bummed that I orienteered so poorly and wasted it. Well and truly got myself a nice list of things to work on.

Orienteering race (Oceania Relay) 57:13 [3]
(injured)

My goodness, what a shocker. Started good, really good focus and felt pretty ready to race properly with other people around, but thats also what made me come undone. Lost sight of Tash and Krystal coming out of 4 but saw Katie and thought it was going to be really good to have someone pushing me to race hard still, so I decided to slightly change my route choice to 5 and go a bit straighter to stay near her but I completely lost it. It was vague in there and without a proper plan and attackpoint I had no hope, kept trying to relocate off tracks that weren't tracks and started to get into a real panic because I knew i'd screwed it. It'd be alot easier to look at the positives of the race if number 5 wasn't such a huge blow up, honestly have no idea what I was doing. Maybe too focussed on proving myself after the mp and not enough on how to orienteer, absolutely kicking myself.
