cycling 1:10:00 [3]

Expected to finish Uni really late but was itching for a hard session again so decided to give the bikes at the uni gym a go.
16min warm up, 1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,2,1min pyramid with half the recovery time ticking my legs over. Felt like my heart rate was super super high, and I was sweating like a pig so think it was a quality session. Doesn't quite feel the same as running intervals though... Had to switch to the generic bikes for the warm down and they were so dodgy!

Wasn't going to do anything today but mum asked if I wanted to go for a jog and it was just the excuse to stop assignments that I was looking for. Legs were a little stiff but not feeling too tired or anything so that's nice!

Running long 2:02:21 [3] 21.21 km (5:46 / km) +261m 5:26 / km

The slightly belated 21st birthday run with the fabulous company of Josh and Kas. Started at the Belmont end of the Fernleigh Track and got a bit of a surprise by the first 9km being a gradual uphill. Then we picked up the Great North Walk and went through Glenrock and down to the beach. Plodded our way along the sand to get to Merewether baths and then followed along the coast to Bar beach and the Anzac walk. Stopped at some taps here, but surprisingly felt not so bad considering we left the biggest hill of the whole run to the last 10mins. Finished it off with a nice, jolting downhill from King Edward Park to Newcastle beach! Perfect sunny day, perfect route, perfect post run choc banana milkshake - cheerin'!

At the gym again. Yesterday was my first time cycling in a good while so today was not the most comfortable in the seat... Absolutely buggered from this! 10min intervals and the screens were working so I could push to get the same distance. Best class i've been to for ages I think!

Body Blitz class at the gym. Only did this because I had planned to last night, definitely wasn't feeling energetic enough to really want to after the cycle. Arms are now shaking.

Sore calves so went for a cycle class, it's been so long! Worked hard and enjoyed it.

About this time last year I had some weird problems with my heels, it was kind of like the bones just started to stick out and I really struggled to wear any of my shoes. It ended up just going away but over the last two days it's started to reappear on my left foot. I'll get the ice on it but I can't really work out why it'd come back all of a sudden... Hoping it won't stick around long.

Another run from home as soon as I got one from uni, started to get a bit hungry and flat by the end. Still not quite 100% so I thought I better hold off on a proper session for a bit. My arms were still sore from yoga on Tuesday, that's when you know you're a weakling...

Feeling a bit better today, most likely because there was no woc to watch yesterday and I could get to bed before 2am. Hoping tomorrow I'll feel better again and I can treat myself to a little jog :)

Too keen to get out of the house and jog to not go Orienteering. Just did the short course, although the terrain was so nice and fast I may not have gone as easy as planned. Super fun so i think it was worth it, don't think I would have made my cold any worse.

I got the cold :( evening stroll turned sneaky little jog because 5 minutes of walking is about all I can manage before going mad. Nice and easy so pretty confident I won't have made it worse.

Desperately in search for a legitimate reason to stop reading textbooks so I convinced dad into doing his jog this arvo instead of in the morning. Started to get a bit dark towards the end but it was a nice leg loosener!

Most enjoyable solo long run I think I've been on since living in Sweden! A few hills near home then out to Walka. Could feel my calves and hammies from yesterday's effort but it was pretty nice and comfortable the whole way. Perfect day for it too, happy as Larry.

Newcastle parkrun. A bit windy but a nice morning for it. Turned around at just over 10.30 but couldn't hold the pace for the second half. My breathing felt fine but my legs couldn't keep up. Running speed is 100% my focus for a while now I think, very keen to get this time down

A 'tone and core' gym class, which was kind of just Pilates. Actually really liked it, wished it was longer though!

Wuoc relay. Second leg on a mix team with a French girl on first leg and Heather on third. A huge improvement on the previous day. A bit sloppy still and I lost some time in the last loop from being pushed around by the green and not being good enough with my compass. Felt like I was being a bit of a pansy running with all of the stuff underfoot too. but happy enough knowing i still have a brain in there somewhere.

Orienteering race (WUOC Long) 1:41:45 [3]

Tough day. Took the wrong route on the long leg and lost like 2mins along with a whole heap of energy from my legs. From the run-through onwards I was absolutely gone. Physically it was a dismal day for me. Didn't feel like the navigation was super demanding but I was pretty defensive and started to go really skew when I got really exhausted. Had hoped to not be quite so far behind, god there's a long way to go...
