Orienteering 19:29 [3]

Back to Isacs ridge for a loop focussing on attackpoints first. A bit hesitant on one control but i think i went pretty alright. Its like 10x easier when you have a solid attackpoint i need to be loads better at that...

Orienteering 38:22 [3]

Middle distance type course. Not as good... Bush was pretty thick and i didn't have much push to start with but then i was making quite a few mistakes. Compass work mostly, I need to do it better!

Orienteering 53:07 [3]

Training at Mt Ainslie. One long leg at the start which i took the less optimal route on. The other way just looked a little too boring so i changed my mind last minute, oops. Then a few controls right to the top! Ouch, I'm weak.

Orienteering 19:40 [3]

A few downhill legs. Felt good to have a bit more navigating to do although my legs were pretty bloody jelly.
2 PM

Orienteering 51:20 [3]

Contouring loop on Mt Taylor. A bit of confusion with one control not being out but im not super confident on my contouring skills so i'm relatively happy with it! Legs pretty tired again though.

Orienteering 20:41 [3]
(rest day)

Tiny little sprint relay around the Carotel. Think i was one of the few not competitive enough to go harder than a jog, my legs were too tired for that!

Monday Mar 28, 2016 #

Orienteering race 55:46 [3]

Actually felt like I could navigate today. Really enjoyed having a long leg too! Got a bit sloppy in the middle controls and then took a bad route to 8 but still much better than the previous day so i cant complain.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Easter day 2: Long) 1:08:06 [3]

Ugh, bad time. Lost 6 minutes on number 1, think I was rushing a little and started to navigate to 2 half way through and then was mistaking one erosion gully for another. Just super silly. Lost alot of extra time on alot of controls from then on. Plus was having a bit of trouble with my feet. Could still run to the end but after i stopped i couldn't put my body weight on one foot, no idea why!

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1: Middle) 50:09 [3]

Started off pretty alright but my legs just got way too tired way too quickly. Lost 3min on number 6 (did not think it was that much!) but for the last 10 controls I just felt really really pathetic physically. Struggled to make myself go at all :( maybe the heat, maybe I went out too hard and but probably just alot of me being a weakling. A bit disappointed but keen for tomorrow!

Event: #NIN3DAYS

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Still can't believe I managed a 15min warm up in that tiny quarantine.

Orienteering race (Easter prologue) 16:32 [3]

Not a bad run! A bit stop start because I struggled to read the map a bit in the residential section, and now I look at the map and see how easy the legs were I probably didn't need to. Then a few other things around gardens and such but I mustn't have had too many route choice errors which is nice

Thursday Mar 24, 2016 #

Running 29:00 [3]

Easy jog with some surges with Malin. Submitted two assignments and we're off to Easter woo!

Wednesday Mar 23, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

Such a waste of a day! So much uni work to do and i got hardly any of it done. Went for a walk just to have a break from looking at it. Ready to leave it and go away orienteering now...

Tuesday Mar 22, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 26:14 [3]

Warm up with drills and a warm down. Super windy along the breakwall for the warm down but there was a nice sunset to look at, topped off the training perfectly!

Running intervals 20:00 [3]

10x 1min on/off around a bike path loop thing in a park at Newcastle. Nice big group of us tonight which was really fun, i guess the motivation of a dinner and a free beer after was impossible to turn down ;) Felt speedy for the first 30 seconds of the first interval but then that was about it. I just felt super uncoordinated! It was hard but I coped well enough until the end, so i guess thats good

Monday Mar 21, 2016 #

Running 32:35 [3]

Jog from home with Malin woooooooo. Legs felt a little heavy after a full day standing in the same spot at work and then a walk home, but i didn't just get off a 24hr flight so i can't complain.

Strength + Conditioning 40:00 [3]

A bit of everything at home.

Worked out that i've been eating too close to taking the tablets and i think that's been making me a bit sick, all good!

Sunday Mar 20, 2016 #

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Trying to do the smart thing. A bit funny in the head again!

Saturday Mar 19, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3]

warm up only

Orienteering race (NSW SL1) 45:43 [3]

Huge time loss on 8. Didn't really plan to see enough along the leg, so then i heard a car and thought i was too close to the road and trusted that because i didn't know what else i was seeing. Silly silly silly. A few other little mistakes but i would've almost been ok with them in such a tough area. Really enjoyed it though, expected it to be ridiculously thick but it was still relatively runnable. Felt really off at the end, my head was really warm and i was a bit light-headed. Think maybe it's the tablets...

Friday Mar 18, 2016 #

Strength + Conditioning 20:00 [3]
(sick)

A little strength from home. Turns out i have a bacterial thing which i've just got from being a bit unlucky the doctor said. A bit concerned that i'm meant to have 4 tablets a day on an empty stomach- my stomach hasn't been empty at any point of the day for a very long while, let alone 4!

Thursday Mar 17, 2016 #

Note
(sick)

Decided to skip my hills session planned for today. Developed a sore throat yesterday evening and it's not any better today, and i don't want to risk it turning in to anything worse this close to easter. I feel like this has happened alot in the last year or so, not happy jan :(

Netball 36:00 [3]

The Netball debut! Feeling a little bit like the other team was not really lowest division material but the Angels were a little rusty, to be expected i guess. I forgot how frustrating it was to not be able to move fast when you're playing netball, oh my god I had a shockerrrrr

Wednesday Mar 16, 2016 #

Running long 1:20:01 [3]

FINALLY a better long run effort! I think the weather had alot to do with it, not too warm and it was spitting rain the whole way. Threw in a fair few hills and I felt pretty comfortable the whole time, so nice. It had been so long since i've done a long run from home that i forgot where i used to go. Don't think people go on some of the tracks i chose anymore unless they're doing something illegal, felt pretty dodgy...

Tuesday Mar 15, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

Really enjoyable weekend. Happy with the consistency of my races but my speed is kind of non-existent. Knew this would be the case though, and at least i think i've learned to push myself a bit harder. Looking forward to easter!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 5) 15:12 [3]

Really struggled to get into the map for some reason. Silly route choice to a few, 2 especially. Wasn't really in the race mode either and got super slack running wise from 10 - 19.
5 PM

Running warm up/down 18:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 6) 15:52 [3]

Really enjoyable and tricky course. Made some stupid route choices and navigated from 11-22. Legs didn't have much left in them to push hard.

Sunday Mar 13, 2016 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 21:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 3) 14:33 [3]

Reeeeeally stupid mistake to 8 and lost quite a bit of time. Other than that ok
5 PM

Running warm up/down 21:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 4) 15:28 [3]

Really enjoyed this one, super tricky thinking the whole way, and i was a bit less behind the winning time.

10 AM

Running warm up/down 23:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 1) 16:15 [3]

A few route choice mistakes 14-17 but ok!
5 PM

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race (MSW 2) 16:34 [3]

Ok but i think i lost a heap more time than i thought on my hesitations and small mistakes. Really noticed i struggle to accelerate quickly in those last few controls!

Friday Mar 11, 2016 #

6 AM

Running 30:00 [3]

Early morning jog with some surges. The fog had trapped in some yucky running conditions, 6am and it was a massive sweat fest. Super excited for the weekend!

Thursday Mar 10, 2016 #

cycling 1:05:00 [3]

45min Cycle class and then an extra 20. Wanted to give my calves a break, and also a little concerned about that bump thing on my heel coming back. Took the class a bit easier but it was nice :)

Wednesday Mar 9, 2016 #

9 AM

Strength + Conditioning 30:00 [3]

Core and theraband stuff
8 PM

Running warm up/down 10:27 [3]

Only a 3min warm down, how slack am I!

Running race 26:13 [3]

Newcastle "Night O" at spears point park, which didn't involve a whole lot of NightO with all the sports fields and street lights. Did not have enough in my legs for all the running, didn't feel fast and i tired pretty bad. The last few controls was super fun! Thought the change to 1:1500 would confuse the hell out of me but there was so much to look at it wasn't so bad. Such a humid night!

Tuesday Mar 8, 2016 #

8 AM

Strength + Conditioning 10:00 [3]

Yoga to "brighten my morning"
6 PM

Running warm up/down 29:51 [3]

Warm up and down with drills

Running intervals 28:02 [3]

At the track with Macey, Rob, Sal and Tamara (woo). 10x 300's with 100m recovery. I did 5, rested one and then did the last 5. Rough wind on the last 100 again! Times were 64-66 (the wind got stronger on the 66 I swear ;)). Tough but i felt alright! I've been running the parkO's and intervals in different shoes without my orthotics and I thought maybe i'd grown out of needing them because i hadn't had any troubles. Today's lower calf pain at the end suggests differently though so i might stop doing that for a bit. I'll be sore tomorrow.

Sunday Mar 6, 2016 #

9 AM

Orienteering 17:41 [3]

ParkO final at Dudley Public. Made a few silly little time losses in the beginning but then thought i would just lose heaps in the open running. Didn't get too fatigued but i have no idea what my pace was like so maybe it was slower and that's why. Glad to get my name on that trophy, maybe one day I can claim as many wins as Malin ;)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

7 PM

Orienteering 20:00 [3]

Checking some control sites for the women's training weekend at Poppethead. A bit of a hard task checking termite mounds on a map thats faiiiiiiiirly old, some are gone some are new and some are ridiculously hard to see anyway. Out there for over an hour but only covered 4.5km because there was so much confusion. When I was running i was loving it though! Realised how bad i would be at bush mapping :|

Saturday Mar 5, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 21:33 [3]

To the start of the course and back. Not really a warm up, just kind of continued the same pace in the orienteering but this was just on the tracks. Saw a snake and the biggest bird i've ever come across on the warm down - #straya.

Orienteering 51:26 [3]

Course at Heart Rate Hills with Macey and Rob. Good fun! Much nicer temperature in the shade of the forest thank goodness. A few killer hills at the end which i didn't quite make it up... Put it all together and today was my long run for the week because tomorrow is the big, all important parko final! Super glad i was convinced to go today, now training is done and Josh and i just made the yummiest and biggest batch of smoothie on earth. Blisssssss

Friday Mar 4, 2016 #

Strength + Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

10min on the rower and then a strength session, a bit of everything. I've gotten better at the TRX stuff! Calves are feeling pretty sore today so i think a day off running is good.

Thursday Mar 3, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 26:28 [3]

16min warm up, 10min warm down. I took the short option home to minimise any extra hills, good move.

Running 33:29 [3]

Same hills session i did last time but this time at a different place. A nice sharp pinch at the start of the hill with loads of rocks made me feel like i was going nowhere, so it was tough! 8x1min hills, 3min rest, 10x30sec hills. Today was my first day of uni with enough hours to really claim that i'm back at uni, so i was kinda tired and not really feeling like doing this. Maybe not quiteeeee as consistent with my distance as last time but meh, glad i got it done!

Wednesday Mar 2, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 18:00 [3]

Warm up and a reluctant warm down. I was tired

Orienteering 28:11 [3]

ParkO event #2 at Jesmond Park. Had expected the park to take up at least half the map so was a little shocked when it wasn't even 1/4 of the map. Still think it was a really enjoyable course though which was nice! I overran 7, wasted time standing at 8 picking a route to 9 and then I think I chose the bad route anyway so i lost some time. Still felt a bit congested with my breathing at the end but I was still able to push. Sore legs from intervals though, hammies especially!

Tuesday Mar 1, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 31:02 [3]

Warm up and warm down with drills. Still pretty warm even after 6, did not take long at all to work up a sweat!

Running intervals 27:35 [3]

Intervals at the track with Macey and Sal. 4x 400m, 200m, 200m. 1min between intervals and then 2min between sets. Not sure how happy I am with it, I felt like I could recover ok between intervals but I barely lifted the pace for the 200's. I'd spent a fair amount of time at the beach during the day and had a little too much sun exposure, so I looked like a tomato and it didn't take much hard work for me to feel it in my gut. Huge headwind for the home straight too which I probably didn't help the times.
