Strength + Conditioning 15:00 [3]

A little bit of core
6 PM

Running warm up/down 25:36 [3]

9min warm up and a warm down collecting controls with some running drills

Orienteering race 19:50 [3]

Sydney Sprint Series. Good fun course, super tricky in two sections and I lost a bit of time. Also made a mistake on the first two but that wasn't tricky that was just me being silly. Feeling a little bit worried about my right quad. I felt it a bit in Canberra but i thought it was just tired, now it's gotten a bit worse. I think the outside of my leg is just working alot harder than the inside maybe, possibly coming from my hips? Iunno... A bit of massage hopefully it'll be ok

Running 1:00:56 [3]

With Josh along Newcastle foreshore. Ugh! Just so so humid. I was loving long runs overseas but this felt 10x harder than any of them and it was only a 60min run! It's the breathing, I don't remember that ever being so hard. It's like the air does nothing, or like i'm in a big cube of stagnant hot air, or a glass case of emotion. Either way i was really weak and i think it's going to take me a while to toughen up!

Strength + Conditioning 45:00 [3]

I've been whinging alot about summer but it was pretty nice to do strength on the grass outside again :)

Running 22:50 [3]

A little one to test some shoes!

Running 45:48 [3]

Jog out at Walka. First time i've seen kangaroos or heard a cow mooing on a run in a while! Super super humid which i didn't really enjoy, but I could smell pumpkin soup and cannot for the life of me understand why someone would want to eat soup in this weather!? Madness.

Strength + Conditioning 30:00 [3]
(rest day)

Kinda early so i could do it before Josh was awake and could make fun of me ;)

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Sprint Canberra race 5) 23:58 [3]

Bit of a shocker of a way to finish the races... Lost alot of time in the beginning with mistakes and i lost all urgency towards the end. Overall it was a super fun camp and super fun races, but i'm pretty bummed about how i went. I know i hadn't done alot of speed work but i didn't quite realise how crazy far behind i'd be! And i dont think a whole lot of how I was feeling can be blamed on jetlag!

Running warm up/down 18:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Sprint Canberra race 3) 25:51 [3]

Not too bad until I slipped into a pit of blackberry bushes and had to get pulled out. Lost a solid 1:30-2minutes which was super super super frustrating! I guess it's lucky i was in the mass start though because if nobody else was around it could've been a while longer... Really fun sprint though! I just need to read the fine details more and be a bit more disciplined with my direction
5 PM

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Sprint Canberra race 4) 20:47 [3]

Felt best about this urban sprint compared to the others this week. Really concentrated on my planning and it went alright. Slowed alooooott in the second half though, it's bad :|

Running 38:00 [3]

Warm up.
3km time trial with a twist, relatively ok with but i struggled to push harder.
Then a little jogging and the PISTE test which i thought was really fun. 400m sprint while remembering where 4 controls were on a map with 4 controls and then you had to draw the controls on a blank map after.
Warm down.
5 PM

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Sprint Canberra race 2) 18:45 [3]

Started off navigating ok but i just did not feel like i was in control at all when we got into super tricky bits. Got really exhausted by the end too.

Running 26:08 [3]

Warm up, 3km time trial and warm down. Didn't really have any clue what so ever what i should expect to run this in but kinda hoped for a bit faster still. Think i started off a bit too slow and didn't have the speed to make up time. Plus i could taste breakfast. And i had 4 hrs sleep the night before. Plenty of chance to improve i guess!
5 PM

Running warm up/down 21:00 [3]

Orienteering (Sprint Canberra race 1) 19:49 [3]

A bit sloppy with my navigation for the whole race and i just had no energy. The heat plus the severe lack of sleep the night before didn't leave me feeling very good!

Running 33:11 [3]

Jog with dad from home. Actually found it noticeably harder to breathe from the hot, humid air. Legs felt a lot better today but it was warm and super uncomfortable. Shorter than planned but I wanted to ease into the acclimatising for at least one day before camp!

Thursday Jan 21, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

Home at 2am, awake and unpacking my bags at 7 because I couldn't sleep. Feeling pretty tired and my legs felt super lethargic and fat all day. Actually makes me feel a little sick thinking about how many layers I was running in in Sweden when it's so hot here!!

(rest day)

The big trip home begins!

Strength + Conditioning 40:00 [3]

A bit of everything
1 PM

Running 40:04 [3]

I took forever to get myself out the door, already looking forward to the warm shower before i had even left! Turned out to not feel that cold today, loved the run and felt pretty alright running too. Not enjoying how sore my hamstrings are considering how much sitting i'll be doing in a day's time...

Running 22:24 [3]

Took quite a while to warm up! And just a little warm down

Orienteering 38:06 [3]

My last Orienteering in Sweden for a while :( And last orienteering in snow for an even longer while i guess! The bush area on the map wasn't so big which was a shame because it was super fun terrain i thought. Headed from 5-9 instead of 6 so i lost quite a bit of time there but other than that not too bad. Need to fix up my exit direction though. And I need to read all the way to the control not just the circle, I lost time to the finish because i didn't see the fence just before it and went the long way around :|

Strength + Conditioning 15:00 [3]

A little core

Running warm up/down 35:00 [3]

15min warm up 20warm down

Running 20:00 [3]

Did a bit of visiting today so joined the Järla training at the 200m indoor track. Started off thinking it was super cool to get to run on an indoor track and loving how many people were there using it, and by the end i had super sore calves and just wanted to run in a straight line. 4x1km intervals with 1min between. Felt good on the first but deteriorated quite a bit. Nice to keep track of how i was running with each lap instead of guessing the distance but the 200m didn't feel as short as it had sounded.

Friday Jan 15, 2016 #

cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Wanted to do a long run but it was as cold as yesterday and my calves were as sore as yesterday. So I found myself another gym for a trial week, second time I've done this now I'm starting to feel a little guilty... 5min heavy load 5min faster and that was about I could manage on a stationary bike!

Elliptical 20:00 [3]

Switched to this to make it a bit of a longer session. First time I've ever been on one of these, kinda fun!

Thursday Jan 14, 2016 #

Running 40:13 [3]

Jog from Malin's in Stockholm! Ended up just going out and back, had my phone for maps but i feared it'd turn off because of the cold like last time as soon as i didn't know where i was. Felt alright considering my legs were still feeling Tuesday a bit, threw in a few surges but it was hard to tell whether i was actually moving my legs faster or not. -14 today and it felt it! I don't think i'd be able to get away without having winter tights for much longer, my legs were absolutely stinging from the cold!
6 PM

Strength + Conditioning 32:00 [3]

My bum had been numb since my run. Tourist wandering around is maybe not so good when it's so cold...

Wednesday Jan 13, 2016 #

Note

I should've run in the morning before the train to Stockholm but my calves were very against wearing o'shoes again. Turns out it probably wasn't as icy as i thought and runners may have been fine... Oh well.

Tuesday Jan 12, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 24:43 [3]

13min warm up 11down. Wore my O'shoes because i thought it would be slippery but I didn't tape my heels and started to get some blisters so the warm down was just the shortest way home.

Running intervals 34:03 [3]

4x 1min on 1min rest, 5min on 2min rest. Felt harder today just doing it along a long flat path but I felt ok enough. Couldn't get my legs going fast enough on the 1mins though.

Monday Jan 11, 2016 #

Running 32:05 [3]

Very easy morning jog. Super wet and slippery again, had to stop and walk down a few paths. Hamstrings were feeling pretty sore from yesterday.

Strength + Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

COL strength. Pairs exercises are always a bit strange, had my face real nice and close to someone I've never met before.

Sunday Jan 10, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 27:00 [3]

16min warm up 11down, with a little stop to see the seals in their frozen lake on the way ;)

Running intervals 38:00 [3]

It feels wrong to not have done a long run on a Sunday... But my knees weren't feeling for that and it'd been a while since I've done intervals. 15x 60/30, 30/30. The snow was not such a novelty today, actually just super annoying because it's all melting so it was either like running on sand or in constant puddles. And I'm too much of a wimp to forget about falling over and slowed down a lot at times. Felt super off in the stomach again, was going to let myself stop after 12 but once I'd done that many It seemed like a waste to not do the rest. No idea why though!

Saturday Jan 9, 2016 #

Note

Spent the day packing up all my stuff and cleaning, pretty sure the room is cleaner now than when I arrived! But my knees and shins were feeling a bit worse so I didn't force myself out when I had a bit to do.

Friday Jan 8, 2016 #

Running 56:44 [3]

Easy jog around Safjället IN THE FALLING SNOW. I'll never not think its cool, it was just super pretty. My knees are about twice the size as normal from all the falling over I've done in the last few days... Only really hurt from the julting running downhill and because my legs were a little cold though so it'll be ok.

Thursday Jan 7, 2016 #

Note

Spent the last few days either travelling or skiing, or attempting to ski anyway. Other than the fact we were out for about 5 hours a day and I was getting a bit bruised and tired, it was also -20ish degrees and I didn't think the chest would deal so well with running anyway. Super super super super fun week! Now back in Gothenburg for a few days packing up my stuff, hopefully i can get enough training in still!

Saturday Jan 2, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 27:33 [3]

To the start and back to home from the finish

Orienteering 47:05 [3]

Did Malin's intervals from NYE, although they weren't so much interval speed for me. Only really got it together for the last one, before that I was just super distracted from the snow falling and couldn't concentrate and was super lazy with my nav. Calf muscles and feet were super tight for the first three but they got ok later. Enjoyed it alot though!

Friday Jan 1, 2016 #

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Determined to not let my first orienteering effort for the year resemble how I will go for the rest of it. Went out to a super cool map I was very excited to run on and I feel like I just wasted it because I couldn't do it! Josh and I ran together and thankfully he knew what was going on, I think there was two controls I'm ok with. At least it's something I can improve on...
