Orienteering (QB3 Day 2-AM) 25:01 [3]

Not a bad race, a little hesitant on number one and i lost about a minute on 8. I need more confidence, the last 3 controls were so simple but i was still so so so hesitant.

Orienteering (QB3 Day 2-PM) 28:49 [3]

Such a cool idea for an event! Im pretty pathetic at running with other people though. Dropped way too low on number 2, lost Jim and then felt really flat and icky for the next few controls. Feel alot better for the second half of the course when i was navigating by myself so thats kind of positive, have to learn to race like that with other people around.

Orienteering (QB3 Day 1) 49:59 [3]

Stupid stupid stupid miss punch. Running to 12 and saw a drinks control, remembered i had a drinks control at number 12 and just switched off that control to the next one. It did feel funny leaving the control but i knew i just had to get out to the track so i didn't think anything of it. Pretty sure i went within about 10m of my control too...
Otherwise i actually feel alright about the race, i just lost a bit of urgency at the end with fatigue.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Sprint training day.
20min warm up with running technique work, one day i hope i can look like im meant to when i run...
First sprint at AUT was alright, missed 2 route choices. Felt good running in the beginning but i could tell i slowed a heap by the end.
Second training was at Massey Uni. I was just a bit fatigued by this one, really sloppy with my navigation and i had no go in my legs!

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]

15min warm up

Then spent 30mins on the attackpoint exercise, all went pretty alright.

Was with Liv and Lucas for the map memory. Finished it off with a bit of relocation, Lucas took our maps and ran us to a spot and we had to navigate to the control from there. Lost a faaaaaair bit of confidence on this, i was pretty shocking... Good to identify it as something i need to work on though!

Finished off with a star relay. Super fun, felt real good to go fast!

Sessions at woodhill. I LOVED the forest!!!

First was a warm up/map jog.
Second training a handrail exercise. Hanny followed me for this one and made me focus on my compass work in and out of the controls. Really needed that actually i think!
Third was a loop of up and down control features.
Last loop was an entry/exit direction loop.
Then a little warm down control collection.

A bit better of a day compared to the middle. One pretty big time loss of 9 or so minutes on one control but looking at the splits up to that point gives me some confidence.

Pretty mortified by today. Didn't really do much right at all and panicked alot which made it all 100x worse. First time i have ever been out and thought i just wanted to stop, kept going because i wanted to have at least one good leg before tomorrow (didn't) and then came back and had mp'd anyway. Ugh. Going in the forget pile.

Josh took me out for a bit of a jog around a few controls after he'd run. An attempt to prove i can actually navigate, and i can. Really good for me. Here's hoping i can just be calm like that tomorrow...

Intervals at Glendale with Macey Malin Tazza and Josh there for support, and thankfully his support wasn't as brutal as the coaching the soccer coach was giving the kids training on the oval. Nobody could enjoy soccer with that much yelling!
Session was 10x 300m with 100m recovery. First three times were good, but things deteriorated pretty bad for me after that. Just could not get my breathing under control at all, not even in the recoveries. I guess its expected with a hard session and i'm still not super used to intervals, but it got kinda frustrating and i felt pretty icky. Actually pretty pleased to have done them all to be honest.
16min warm up and 10 warm down.

Orienteering 1:27:45 [3]

Long Champs at Gumble. So so soooo frustrated with my race because it was so much fun and i went so bad. Got back and just wanted to do it all over because i shouldn't have made that many mistakes and i was hoping to feel so much better about it... 3 and 10 were the real bad ones, i wouldve well and truly lost 5 mins at each, and then there were some other slightly smaller mistakes and hesitations on some other controls too. I think the biggest thing today was that i needed to make sure i saw exactly what i wanted to see, and when i did that i was happy enough but it wasnt very often. I guess at least i got some good relocation practice in! ;)

State League 5 at Rocky Falls.
Got within 5m of the first control and stood there for about a minute wondering what i had done wrong because i didn't see the control, and that kind of set me up for the whole race aha. Stopped early on a fair few controls and i was really slack with my compass and exit direction. Got some specifics to work on!

Short hills: 2* 5x 30sec hills w/ jog back recovery. Got a pretty consistent distance for them all so it was good. Keen for tomorrows rest day to be honest :)

Run at walka with a 90second surge every 8.5mins. Really good for me to have to make myself keep running at a good pace after the surges. And super nice weather for running today!

Orienteering 46:20 [3]

Minor event at the same map as yesterday. Pretty poor navigationally, overran a few and drifted off my compass bearings alot. Surprised to say it but i might've been running too fast! Think i was too pumped up and motivated from watching TioMila all night and morning, which is also strange considering i was running on three hours sleep. Really enjoyed it today though!

Very slack with both warm up and down but didnt want to miss too much of the race!! Managed to go to the event, run and come home in just 2 hours, killed it!

Coach Blatchford's debut club coaching session. Corridor exercise, maybe the second one of those i've ever done so i was pretty hesitant and stop start. I know i went off a few times but i think it went relatively ok! Keen to have a look at my GPS later.

Run at Walka. Have been hesitant to go there fearing that the lake would smell even filthier than normal after the flooding but it was do-able. Got a little too dark by the end so i had to cut it a bit short. Saw some pretty terrifying kangaroos out there today!

Track ints at Glendale with Malin and Macey. Did not feel fantastic... First mistake was doing nothing for the day, i just felt flat by the time we started and didnt catch up on any sleep. Second mistake was wearing tights, i dont know when i'll learn that i will always get frustrated and feel icky in tights!!
Pyramid session tonight: 200, 400, 600, 800, 600, 400, 200. 1min rest after the 2's and 4's and 2mins after the 6's and 8. Was feeling yesterdays session in the legs but my breathing was almost more the issue tonight.
Time includes warm up and down.

Beach intervals at Newcastle, best day for it! 15min warm up along the breakwall.
4x30 4x45 4x60 2x90 with equal recovery. Pretty tough! Feel surprisingly pleased with how it went, although i I'll admit I did seem to get a bit closer to the water on those last 90second efforts...
Then 10ish warm down and now I'm currently having a bit of a lay on the sand for recovery, happy days.

Long run in Newcastle with Josh Malin and Angus. Along the breakwall, up through King Edward park and along the new Anzac walk to bar beach and back, so there was a few nice hills today. The Anzac walk was really nice! And there was some insane obstacle course going on at Newcastle beach so at least it was an exciting enough run even though i felt pretty crappy. Just felt a bit off in the stomach and struggled a little with my breathing for some reason...

Went along to Newcastle parkrun. Pretty lucky to skip the rain apart from the warm down! Not too sure how i feel about it, think i did about the same time as last time but i wasn't happy with it then. But i've also been sick lately i guess so i dont know. Josh ran with me for the last 2km or so which was good for me. Had that same guy comment about my running style again, at least this time he didnt ask me if i was ok when he passed me i guess...
Time includes 15min warm up and 10ish warm down.
