Orienteering 44:44 [3]

NPY at Fairley Dams.
First control had me stumped just because i didnt expect to have to go in that direction, but the navigation was pretty good apart from not aiming off well on a couple. My legs felt ridiculously tired though, yesterday was just super draining. So i think 6,7 and 8 would've been pretty slow, i just had nothing!

Running 24:04 [3]

Maitland Parkrun. Nice and muddy from the rain the previous day/night so it was a tad difficult to go around the corners. I started near the back so i played catch up for like the first km, but turns out apparently it was a pb! I started my watch when i crossed the start line so their time's six seconds slower too. A really nice morning!

Running 45:20 [3]

Skipped out on night o, i was the only one from the Blatchford houshold considering going and i'm not super keen on night orienteering so i opted for a jog from home instead. I thought it'd give me a chance to get more uni work done too but from all this time im spending on attackpoint and testing out the new AMP website thing that was probably a little optimistic...
Turned out to be a pretty hilly run though, which was completely unintentional and the legs did not love it after yesterday. But i was happy with how i was pushing it! Had to stop still for maybe 30 seconds at the 20 min mark, the outside of my calves were awful! But they were bearable enough from then on.

Running hills 35:00 [3]

12 min warm up
2 sets of 5x 20 second hills. Pretty happy with how i went i think, legs were moving alright and i felt like i pushed myself pretty hard.
10 min warm down, calves got preeeeetty tight up the last hill to home, ill have to make sure i pick up the stretching i think.

Running 30:00 [3]

From king edward park this week, the lengthy uphill at the end wasn't exactly the recovery run i was expecting but my legs coped well despite feeling a tad sore in the beginning :)

Strength + Conditioning 30:00 [3]

Strength on the highest peak of king edward park, the wind made balancing the side plank a little interesting. Good sesh

Orienteering 48:46 [3]

NOL - Kangaroo Crossing
Plan was to take the first one kind of slow to get into the scale because it’d been so long since id run on 1:15000, but then number one turned out to probably be the hardest control and for the first half of the leg i don’t think i was ever exactly sure where i was. It was a bit of a relief to finally get to one so i could kind of start over again. I took number two a bit slower to get into it finally and then didn’t really feel too bad about my navigation for the rest apart from a small mistake on seven. The course was almost over by number five though, i enjoyed the shorter legs at the end but 4.5km for a long seemed so strange, the course looks so so tiny on the map!

Orienteering 51:57 [3]

NOL - Rowdy Flat
Started off pretty slowly, i stood at the start triangle for a good 10 seconds super confused before i found it, and then i couldn’t make myself go the direction i knew i had to. Lost a bit of time on number three and then started navigating 12-13 when i was going 11-12. I got a little sloppy in the circles at the end too but i think I’m just happy to have not made a huge mistake and lose too much time on a control or two. Definitely a different area to run on!

Running 23:00 [3]

20 min run and 4 20 second pick ups along a path at coogee beach. It was super pretty and a nice morning so I did a good stretch sesh down there too and then had a bit of a walk back.

Orienteering 32:27 [3]

Park o final at walka.
I could feel my legs were a bit tight from yesterday! There was a bit of confusion with little bush track but no mistakes, i just tired from all the long running legs. A tad scared of the fact they we were warned about snakes on the bush legs though, but the short legs in the bush were probably my favourite section, and a bit of relief from just the long track runs.

Running intervals 40:00 [3]

Intervals at Smythe oval, luckily there was another guy and his dad there doing intervals so i was safe enough.
!2min warm up - 3 laps and some run thrus
100m, 200m, 300m, 400m with one minute between. Then back down the pyramid. I didnt feel too bad i dont think, definitely was an exhausting session though and i got a few bugs in my eyes which was a tad uncomfortable...
Then 3 lap warm down.

Running 30:00 [3]

The foreshore was extra smelly today so glad i made it through without feeling too ill in the belly :)

Strength + Conditioning 30:00 [3]

A really good strength session this week!

Orienteering 37:28 [3]

State League 2
I think i redeemed my navigation thank goodness. Super strange to have to basically turn around and go the opposite direction from the start triangle! I wasnt going all that fast in the beginning but it meant no mistakes, and then i was more confident in the more open faster running areas. Super enjoyable weekend!

Orienteering race 1:09:15 [3]

State League 1.
Not a brilliant run. I made a few errors in the circle and i really noticed how tough and exhausting it was! I tried to cut of a bit of distance occasionally by climbing but it saved me no time at all and i probably didnt need to make myself climb any more than necessary, and then at the end of the course i think like alot of people i just had nothing left and i started to become really hesitant.

Netball 40:00 [3]

Macey's Angels Debut!
Apparently i no longer know how to pass the ball to a good spot... The team came out with the win! Super fun to play again :)

Orienteering 32:20 [3]

A bit of a long start, the first half just about was honestly just running, but i guess it meant i pushed myself because i wanted to get into the good stuff. I found it hard to know what i was meant to run through at times, and i made a bit of an error because of my distance perception being a bit off. Mozzies were a massive pain though holy moly

Unfortunately there was not one but two dead birds passed on the run today... :(

Orienteering 39:11 [3]

Newcastle minor event.
Nice and hilly start to the season! I had patches where i handled the hills well and then i got pretty slack in the middle somewhere. Lost about two minutes i think overrunning number 6 because i was too low to count the watercourses properly. Think i might have to start taping my laces again maybe, both came undone today! The course was pretty ideal for training today too which was good, lots of controls at the end :)

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering long 1:23:11 [3]

Corridor running set by Josh at Brush Creek, such nice running in the burnt sections! I thought i managed to do it a lot better than last weekend but that could've been because it wasn't blanked out next to the lines. Pretty happy to finish the run covered in a lot less blood than joshwaaa.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

3 lap warm up and run thru's. Then 3 lap warm down and stretches.

Running intervals 15:00 [3]

Have a bit of a busy day so got training out of the way nice and early so the track was super dewy. I did 200, 400, 600, 400, 200. I didn't feel like I was able to move my legs fast enough on any but the 200's, super frustrating! I just did not feel coordinated enough to life my knees either :( Times weren't too bad though I don't think so I guess it's ok, plus I didn't get swooped by the magpies which was a plus!

Wednesday Mar 5, 2014 #

Orienteering 33:50 [3]

Park series event #2.
The start and end of the course was really good, super tricky and lots of decisions. Lots of just running in the middle sections of the course and i don't really know if i was running all that fast, plus didn't even take the time to read ahead well enough so i made a few little errors back in the tricky stuff at the end aswell. Juuuuuust got in ahead of the rain which was nice, the clouds made it hard to read the map though it got super dark!

Tuesday Mar 4, 2014 #

cycling 45:00 [3]

Had a bit of a headache all day so i decided against a run because i didn't think i'd enjoy any extra pounding in my head. It was a good substitution though because it there was only about 2 minutes of rest in the whole class. So it was nice and tough!

Orienteering 1:25:26 [3]

Training set by Josh on the Southams rd map. Unfortunately there was a whole lot of messy navigation on my part, and a whole lot of fear of spiders and fat kangaroos. But it was super beneficial being in the terrain for that long anyway, and it was my first ever attempt at a corridor exercise so that was cool.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]

15 min warm up, 10 warm down.

Orienteering 38:18 [3]

Middle distance training at Brush Creek set by Josh. I forgot about having to worry about rolling an ankle for at least the first half of the course and it was sooooo so great not thinking about that until i rolled one a little! Think i navigated pretty alright after going a little wide on number 3. Super nice running in the burnt areas!
