Running long 1:30:02 [3] 16.77 km (5:22 / km) +122m 5:11 / km

Morning long run. Finished it at Walka and got a lift home with Josh after parkrun. Sooooooooooooooooo sweaty. Did as many hills as i could in the first 25 or so minutes because i knew the second half would be super flat. Felt pretty alright today!

Running 30:18 [3]

With Josh. Short but a decent amount of hills i would say. Much enjoyment!

Running (Drills) 5:00 [3]

Netball 36:00 [3]

First win woooooo! Super fun game. Was able to hide my lack of reaction time tonight and think I finally may have contributed a few good things along with my shocking passes.

cycling 45:00 [3]

Still a little tender in the foot so wasn't too keen for running, opted for a cycle at the gym instead. Good tough class!

Elliptical 15:00 [3]

Because i was meant to run for an hour and the ellipticals were right next to the fans.

Strength + Conditioning 20:00 [3]

A little core and arms

Running 30:20 [3]

Jog from home between shifts at work. Legs feeling a little unco and stiff but not too sore. Still got some pain in my foot but it's better today than yesterday so i think it'll be alright tomorrow, hopefully.

Strength + Conditioning (Yoga) 1:00:00 [3]

Also between shifts at work, and the shift after kinda undid all the goodness i felt from doing yoga in the first place...

Orienteering 2:32:32 [3]

Ultralong! Longest orienteering I think i've ever done, I clocked 22.3km in the end! Lost quite a bit of time on mistakes but there were too many controls to write about it all on here. Felt pretty alright physically until the second half of the last loop and then to the finish was preeeeeeetty painful. Got the same foot pain as the long at Easter, not too sure what it is but i want to check it out i think. Kinda frustrating because otherwise my legs had enough to keep pushing i think, it just hurt when my feet touched the ground... Anywhoo, really enjoyed it and i was always going to happy as long as i did it.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race (NOL middle distance) 35:51 [3]

Not too bad of a run, really hesitant in the beginning and control 3 in the wrong spot didn't help. Lost some time there and then a fair bit on the next one too. Also didn't trust my aiming off on number 14 and lost more time there, need to work on exiting the controls a bit faster too! Really enjoyed it though!

Uni and then a crazy amount of hours of travel to SA

Running 27:04 [3]

Little jog from home. Took some uni notes to read. So enjoyable to not think at all about how fast you're running. Felt good, but still stressed assss
8 PM

Netball 40:00 [3]

GK, very willingly this week because I didn't want to be taking netball DOMS with me to SA. They're the worst kind... I played pretty shocking but i think the team has started to get our mojo back!

Running 1:01:15 [3]

Enjoyable run at Walka, felt pretty comfortable and not sluggish which was nice. Pleasantly surprised to get it all done in daylight.
I'm stressssssssed.

Running (drills) 5:00 [3]

Strength + Conditioning 10:00 [3]

Teeny tiny core session

Running warm up/down 31:20 [3]

Only Macey and myself tonight!! Good chats commiserating my hair cut and his mis-ordered sandwich at lunch today.

Running intervals 18:32 [3]

8x 300m with 100m recovery (walking because i got stuffed). Smaller session before the weekend but i think it went well. Times were 63/62. Breathing felt super strange on the first one but ok after that.

Orienteering 1:32:57 [3] 12.01 km (7:44 / km) +176m 7:13 / km

Old course from Josh at Southams Rd. Do enjoy this map! The southern section was burnt which made it alot nicer to run through than what i remembered, but a few logs and trees were still smoking which was probably not super safe... A bit of compass work, corridor and control picking so it was very ideal, especially for next weekend where i'll have to stay on the ball for quite a long time. Legs hadn't had much recovery because of yesterdays 9hr standing still shift at work so i was planning to cut it quite a bit shorter but i was having too much fun!

Running warm up/down 27:16 [3]

Warm up and warm down with Jooooooooosh. Had a jacket on in the warm up, so nice! haha

Running race 22:24 [3]

Maitland parkrun. It's been a while but somehow I managed a 56 second pb, and did it like 26 seconds faster than i've ever done Newy Parkrun which is completely flat. So thats nice! Very consistent pace the whole way. Maybe I am actually getting better?!
7 PM

Eating race 15:00 [5] 15.0 km (1:00 / km) +500m 51 / km
shoes: Icebug Zeal

Demolished a family pizza before park run.

Friday Apr 15, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 32:52 [3]

Warm up and down to and from the hill and a few small drills

Running hills 28:32 [3]

4x long hills up one side to the water tower. Times were 2:04, 2:07, 2:08, 2:07. (Can't wait until i learn to not go too fast on the first interval...)
Then straight down the other side of the hill for 8 x 30sec intervals up the slightly steeper side.
Legs were pretty shot by the end of the long set so was wanting the short hills to be over with pretty quick. Tough session!

cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Wasn't super motivated to go and sit in a cycle class but my calves wanted a break from running. Was expecting a 45min class but it went long, and it was quite possibly the worst class i have ever done. Apparently we were doing pyramid and intervals but i'm yet to work out in what part of the class either of those existed. But still, my quads were burning so i guess it doesn't matter!

Wednesday Apr 13, 2016 #

Running tempo 49:00 [3]

15min jog, 3x 7min tempo kinda efforts, 10min jog. Efforts were 1.49km, 1.47km, 1.48km, nearly the same climb in them all i would say. Soooo so so bad at knowing what pace i'm running but hopefully i'll get a bit more used to it. Breathing was a bit weird again today for some reason!

Running 10:00 [3]

Drills afterward. Started absolutely bucketing down as soon as we got home, timed it perfectly!

Strength + Conditioning (Yoga) 55:00 [3]

The instructor confessed he forgot last week was meant to be a beginners week so it wasn't too much harder this time. Even thinking about giving yoga it's own attackpoint colour!
6 PM

Running warm up/down 30:46 [3]

15min warm up and down. With le drills.

Running intervals 24:00 [3]

8 x 400m on a 3min cycle. Times were 88, 88, 88, 89, 89, 90, 90, 89. Slowed a little on the second half of each but recovered well in the rests. Felt a bit unco today though, my breathing was a bit out of wack and my leg speed was all over the place!

Monday Apr 11, 2016 #

Strength + Conditioning 50:00 [3]

A bit of everything outside in the sun. I can't make myself do uni work...

cycling 45:00 [3]

Cycle class at the gym. Hard class, enjoyed it!

Saw my old manager at work today and he asked me why I had so many scratches on my arms. Thats always fun...

Sunday Apr 10, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race 1:10:16 [3]

Newcastle OY at Dark Hills. Had little sleep and it was thick and slow so I didn't have much motivation or push. A bit pathetic on my part. Enjoyed the second half alot more than the first once i had gotten used to the fact it was tough and thick and i just had to man up a bit. Navigated alright apart from a few smaller errors. Far too hesitant and not confident for alot of the course though.

Saturday Apr 9, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 36:00 [3]

Warm up, warm down and some drills.

Running intervals 16:00 [3]

Short mona session at Walka. Felt pretty average during the warm up but I'm relatively happy with how this went! First time I've comfortably made it back past where I started. Maybe the floats should've been a bit faster but I rarely feel ok when I'm trying to run fast so I'm ok with it.

Thursday Apr 7, 2016 #

Running 34:19 [3]

Nice jog with mum in Newcastle, who originally said she didn't care what she did or how far it was and then decided she wanted to go up to the top of king edward park... Felt pretty good on the way up but my quads had pulled up a bit sore from something and didn't enjoy the jolting on the way down.

Running (Running drills) 5:00 [3]

Wednesday Apr 6, 2016 #

8 AM

Running 49:15 [3]

At walka. Pretty warm and humid already! Legs didn't feel quite as fresh as i had hoped... Enjoyed it.

Running 15:00 [3]

Drills after the run. Added a few to my repertoire after i saw my shadow when i was running and noticed how much of a fool i look.
6 PM

Strength + Conditioning 45:00 [3]

Not planned but it was either i do this or spend 45min in Maitland somewhere doing uni work in the dark. 10min on the rower and then some core and arms and back and glutes work. Did enjoy!

Strength + Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]
(rest day)

Apparently every first Tuesday of the month is a beginners yoga class so I gave it a go. It was fun but I'll probably only be going once a month with my skills...

Orienteering 1:31:18 [3]

Not enough swear words in the world to explain this run. First two controls (which was the first half of the course when you only have 8 of them) need to go in the forget-they-ever happened bank or I may never mentally recover. Ugh.
Can at least be glad that I resisted temptation to stop I suppose. Managed to kind of get it together for the rest of the course and redeem myself ever so slightly in the navigation department. A bit off the pace still but not surprised seeing how cranky/frustrated/stressed/sad/stupid I was feeling.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]

Running warm up/down 16:00 [3]

Missed when the tapes went off into the bush on the way to the start and had a good quality jog. Oops.

Orienteering 35:08 [3]

NSW Middle distance. Really enjoyed the map and the course! Started off well but got a bit sloppy and hesitant in the second half of the course. Lost concentration on a longer leg and then lost some confidence, but nothing woeful I guess.

Friday Apr 1, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering 27:29 [3]

Middle distance on the flatter section of Ainslie. 24 controls so it was super fun. Happy with my exit direction alot of the time but something needs to be done about my compass work...
