With Macey, Angus and Rob. Started off feeling pretty alright. Then we had a nice section of sand follow by some stairs and that took it out of me a bit. And then the last 15mins ended up as a bit of a battle between me and the half banana i ate for breakfast... And then i ended pathetically and walked the last little bit back to the car :( Surprisingly hot today!

Last minute decision to head out to Belford. Regret! Not of going orienteering but the choice of map. Spiders absolutely everywhere, it was disgusting :(((( Kind of a bust regarding the physical point of the session because i was so stop start but i navigated quite alright after control one and i was pleased with my compass. Days like today when i have goosebumps of fear the entire way around and come back covered in sticky spider webs i get confused why i like orienteering so much.
18min warm up then 30min course and no warm down because i was so sick of it hahah. Feeling pretty much 100% again which is a plus though!

Warm up and warm down, a few drills after both. Warm down was a bit longer than planned but i committed to a lap of the lake and had to make it back to the car.

Running intervals 11:00 [3]

A little back to it intervals session at Walka. 3x3/1min. Actually felt so hard which seems a bit ridiculous, my breathing was just going crazy!? Legs were a bit funny too. Not so much tired but just a bit weak. Maybe from getting a good stretch this morning? Pace wasn't too bad but i just didn't feel great.

Orienteering (ParkO #2) 27:14 [3]

Park event #2 at Raymond Terrace. Alot of running, and it was deceptively tough running too. Mown grass, some wind and little embankments and stuff took it out of my legs alot! Still feel a bit stuffed up in the head!!?! Don't know why it's still around but i doubt anyone felt too brilliant running today anyway.

Body blitz at the gym. A bit of a different class today which was nice. All of me is so shaky! Saw my doctor today and he gave me some antibiotics so hopefully my head clears up pretty quickly now.

Training at Balickera Hills set by Barnett. Still suffering a bit of a cold but i started running feeling and navigating pretty alright. Definitely didn't pay enough attention to the green though, it was pretty accurate and i could've saved a bit of time if i actually made sure i went around because i'm a bit of a weakling in the thick stuff sometimes. Started to feel a whole lot worse at the 35min mark, and by 50mins by body had had enough. Legs were still feeling relatively ok but my head was just super ugh. Enjoyed it but in hind-sight perhaps today wasn't such a good idea.

#Newcastlepreseasoncampwahhhht with Macey, Sal, Steve, Rob and Andrew. Did a Middle distance at Southams Road set by coach Josh who braved the march flies to be there for support, hero. Really good course and i thought quite nice terrain one i got used to the spider webs. Relatively happy with my orienteering, a bit unsure in the circle of 13 and 15 but that was just me being a bit iffy without having tapes. Felt good physically early but had a few coughing stops and fatigued a bit. Had to skip the second session of the day to go to work but i'm definitely still not 100% so it was probably a good thing anyway. Pretty gross muggy weather!

Bit of strength at the gym, much more enjoyable when there aren't so many intimidating lifting types there and more old ladies. 10min of rowing and then a bit of everything strength. I think the running yesterday may have been a bad move because i woke up with a bit of a chesty cough going on :( I thought it was definitely on the mend but this will do me today!

First parko event! Maybe not the most exciting area for an orienteering course but I think it was an up from streeto still. Feeling better in the nose today but still very stuffed up in the head, my ears were the worst. I got excited at the start and went off at a racey-ish kind of pace but after control three i knew i should go easrier, it was making me feel a little light-headed. Felt strong enough in the legs at least!

Spent the weekend in Tassie which was super nice! Not much of a chance for anything but some walks but thats ok, it was worth it. Doesn't really explain why i've come home and now all of a sudden have a head cold though... Just super stuffed up in the nose and my ears are all blocked, hopefully i can kick it quickly. Had my first day back at work today too, woo :|

Running hills 30:25 [3]

8x 1min hills,10x 30sec hills. I spent a while beforehand faffing about trying to pack for the weekend so it was pretty warm by the time I got out, (which was still only 9am!), and my legs felt super heavy in the warm up so I was preparing to have a very bad time. Ended up feeling pretty alright in the hills though! Managed within a step of the same distance each time, and had a little encouragement from a girl walking her dog to keep me going. Exhausted!

Streeto at Rankin Park. Super hilly! I went to the flatter section first thinking i could run harder through that and then just manage the hills but my legs felt super super heavy at the start so it didn't work too well. I was a bit gone at the 40min mark, plus i got a bit of a stitch and couldn't even enjoy the downhills. Ended up 3 mins late but it was a fun run.
Time is plus a (tiny) warm up and some drills after.

17min warm up with a few drills, aaaaand a 13min warm down with some more drills.

8x 400m on a 3min cycle. Times were 90/91 secs, 7th was 93 though oops. The home straight was tough into the wind but it was a good session, top company! Mega exhausted at the end.

Planned long run at Glenrock with Josh, Macey, Rob and Kas. My new shoes feel a bit smaller so I took my old ones to save squishing my toes on a long run, but i forgot to get my innersoles... so i ran with just my half orthotics and had myself some blisters after only 15mins. GAHHHH so silly. It was enjoyable!

'Intervals' at Stanford Scrubs. Pretty quickly remembered why i don't really enjoy this map, it was ridiculously scratchy and thick and ugh. Thought it would be good for some compass work but when you're not sure you're even at the right termite mound or an ants nest, or whether it even exists anymore it was a bit hopeless. 5 intervals all about 1km but i cut off a few controls and joined 3 and 4, and had about 3min between. Kinda frustrating it was so slow and tough going because when it cleared up at the end a little i was feeling pretty alright running through the bush!

5x 3/1min. Around the lake at walka, the hills were small but i felt them. Couldn't hold the pace well enough today, I slowed a bit in all of them. Hard to pick the pace up again after each of the windy spots! Quad wasn't too bad today, it just felt a bit tired as opposed to sore in a certain spot which was good.

Running (Newcastle Streeto) 45:25 [3]

First streeto in a while! I pulled up pretty sore from the intervals yesterday, my legs were super super stiff! The map was super flat so it was fast running but I lost a bit of speed for a while at about the 30min mark. Had done a lap time when I started the course but i was looking at the total time on my watch so thought i was late when i still had like 5min to go. So silly! I pushed to try to get one extra point but was a little late, ohhh welllll.

Warm up with some drills. Quad was feeling a bit sore again at the start but after the drills it eased off heaps, which was nice and also really weird.
Then a warm down with a few more drills.

Running 29:20 [3]

Intervals at the track with Josh, Macey and Sal woooo! 15x 200m on a 2min cycle. Pace was meant to be 40's for me, times were between 39 and 42. Haven't had that really jelly feeling in my legs for agesss but i got it today! The first 100m would feel good enough but then i started to feel super uncoordinated and frustrated that i couldn't move my legs faster for the second 100m. Really enjoyed it though, very much like the group trainings!
