cycling (Cycle class at the gym) 45:00 [3]

Not the greatest class I've ever been to, but training in the morning is always better so it's good to have it done. My scratches from yesterday haven't pulled up great though, still stinging quite a bit!

Park Orienteering 33:56 [3]

Park o series has started back up! I was a little less keen when i saw the map because i didn't realise there'd be quite so much road running too, but the courses were actually really enjoyable! Covered over three park sections so it was good :) I had a bit of a fall on the bush track that lost me some time, but it's left me with some pretty impressive looking injuries so i guess that makes up for it a bit. Also think i may have taken a much slower route choice to the next control but nothing to significant i hope.

Running hills 45:00 [3]

10 min warm up. The outside of my calves got ridiculously sore... Had to stand still for a couple of minutes before starting the hills and they were alright until the warm down again.

2 sets of 4x60 second hills, jog down recovery. 2 minutes between sets.
This was tough! Legs still weren't feeling super fresh and it was pretty warm. Was pretty happy to have this session finished! They were pretty consistent though so i was happy with the efforts.

Then just under a 10 min warm down. Had to cut it short just before the last incline home because it got a little too uncomfortable, anyone have any tips on how to stretch the outside of your calf muscles?

Strength + Conditioning 30:00 [3]

Skipped out on the group run this week to give my calves a bit of a break and went for a 30 min walk (the most frustrating thing ever, plus it's super awkward when you try to overtake fellow walkers) and then joined in on the tough 'Tamara' strength session.

NOL 3 - sprint final
Bit of a bummer of a way to finish the weekend with such a bad mistake. I was feeling really good about the course until number 9, i lost at least 2 and a half minutes on not even a tricky leg, just followed around the wrong road... There's some positives looking at the splits up until then though i think, and it was a real good weekend anyway

Orienteering 35:00 [3]

NOL 1 - sprint relays.
Guessing the time from the two races. Was super fun! Not a clue whether i took good route choices for some of the legs, i think i went a different way each time i had to cross from the north to the south of the map. Lost about 40 seconds on my first loop going on the top of the bridge because i didn't think i could get under so easily, and then on the second loop i ran straight past my number three because i was reading ahead, think i lost a minute there :| So good to be racing with so many other people around!

NOL 2 - sprint qual.
I think it was hard to feel like you were having a good run on this map, super tricky and i found it almost impossible to plan ahead. I had a good result but i definitely did a few silly things out there, plus i got stuck on a ramp at one point and i have no idea how...

Street Orienteering 44:33 [3]

Last streeto around Merewether in the rain. Answering clues was a huge pain, as was the blisters i got on my heels. But it was nice to run in the rain, i just had a bad route choice i think and didn't get going well enough in the middle.

Running 30:00 [3]

I went down to visit in sydney. We ran from the unsw village to Coogee beach then around, did two hard sets of a fairly long bunch of stairs, then had a quick swim and ran home. The running was limited on the way there, it's pretty busy around the cafe's and that! But it was still a pretty decent run once we got to the beach and home :) Calves are getting pretty sore though so ill be having a rest after streeto tomorrow i think.

Running long 1:22:05 [3] 14.65 km (5:36 / km)

Josh set me a course on the Ashtonfield street map, the rule was i couldn't come out of a control the same way i went in to it so i had to plan ahead and take some interesting route choices. It rained the entire time so myself and the map got pretty drenched, but it meant i couldn't see the contours anymore so i couldn't dread running up certain roads when i forgot how hilly they were. It was so good to not have to think where else i could run to make it long enough, such a good way to do a long run!

Running 50:00 [3]

Some sprint o training at Ourimbah with josh angus and mum. Josh set three loops each on a different section of the map. First two i felt alright in, struggled deciding which seemed like the best way to go to the control but it was easy enough to push running and still navigate alright. Then i had the super tricky loop last and i just felt like i was going ridiculously slow the whole time trying to navigate through the buildings and out of bounds, it was tough!

8 min warm up to the starts. Each loop was around 1.5 km. Then 8 min warm down back to the car.

Running hills 33:21 [3]

Bit over a 10 min warm up, then 2 sets of 5x20second hills, jog down recovery and 2 min between sets. I felt a little ill on the first set, i think i ate too much when i got home from work. But i had a family riding up the hill on the second set and it was awesome motivation catching them. Then about a 10 min warm down.

a really good class tonight! We did tabata stuff, so 8 x 20seconds on 10 off. We ended up getting through 8 of those, 30 seconds in between each set, rool good!

Pretty nice new map to run around! A bit of a bummer I had so much time left and no points near by at the end that I could get. I should've at least got two more points I think, but I was relatively happy with how I ran I think, I only slacked off a bit on a few of the hills this week, an improvement from last! Aha

Out along the break wall and then running on the beach within the strength session. Sand is such a pain, super exhausting!

Super tough strength on the beach. A bit of the usual and some plyometrics aswell, such a good session!

Orienteering 29:01 [3]

Sydney Sprint series event at Abbotsford. I didn't do too badly, i know i made maybe two off route choices and struggled a tad with the long road run. Really enjoyed it, well worth the 2 hour drive!

A jog around ashtonfield with 6 x 30 second surges towards the end. It was ridiculously hot and to be honest I'm pretty happy that i got out there in that so I'm alright with the shorter run!

Running 51:47 [3]

Run around Ashtonfield with dad. I feel pretty bad running lately, like i honestly cannot move my legs fast at all like in those bad orienteering dreams. Think ill do some intervals asap. Got a super nice prickle in my leg too, i felt something stinging in my leg while running and i dug it out when i got home. It's the biggest prickle I've ever had and i wasn't even running in the bush!

The time off logging was not ideal, i got sick with tonsillitis when i got home from canberra and didn't get to do anything last week. But I'm feeling alright now and hopefully training will step up!

Gym 1:00:00 [3]

Unfortunately the cycle class was full and a 'total body' was the other option which i think was alright to ease back into training to make sure the sickness is all good. The first half of the class I was hopeless at, there were way too many fancy step moves and names and i was super lost. But the second half i could do alright and it was actually really good. Pulled up a little sore today!

Street Orienteering 44:48 [3]

I had no idea how id feel, first bit of exercise in a week and it was super hilly but i think i went alright!
