Orienteering 58:00 [2]

Some training on the hittaut map from o ringen campsite!
We made it on Saturday despite the car breaking down on the way to Edinburgh airport...
Couldn't easily get us all out to the training areas so did some lines and a few hittaut controls on a strange 1;12500 scale. But great to be in Swedish terrain again.
Needless to say this was very slow... Good to get my head around things though.

To and from orienteering training at Waldridge fell. Channeled my inner Beau Miles and CB2 on the way back with two bunches of (free and surplus) flowers sticking out of the top of my rucksac.

Orienteering 44:00 [3]

Route choice course on Waldridge with an open orienteering map. I struggled! With understanding the map (it wasn't wrong, just no sense of hierarchy on the many many paths and understand vague vegetation), and with the scale, and couldn't get my legs going particularly fast either! But lovely to be out with some other orienteers and nice to geek about routes after. Oh and I also failed to go to the last control as I just didn't see it on the map.... Someone kindly pointed out I won't make that mistake in a race, but on current form I wouldn't bet on that.

Hot out already. School and not much of aykley heads and woods. Was a fair amount of walking today... A bit tired from yesterday and all the heat and needed to get back anyway for some meeting prep, so I'll take getting out at all as a success.
