NOY race 56:59 [4] 4.2 km (13:34 / km)

Hunter Valley Champs 2103

NEW MAP 10 MINUTES FROM HOME!!!!

Eager to see what the new map looked like and wasn't disappointed. Didn't really feel too steep and never felt overly vegetated for a map so close to our part of the NSW coastline. Except for some traffic noise one felt like they were a million miles from civilization oh and except for the occasional burnt out rusty car wreck. Wishe dour suburban sprawl had left some more similar tracts of land around for us to run on close to home.

I started late and slightly after official last start, but I promised not to be last in and I wasn't. Had a fairly slow but accurate run. The only problem of any sort was being slightly of bearing to the SW of 13 which was strange because I headed up from the waterhole below which was fairly close. After looking at the boulder I came to (there seemed to be too many) I quickly corrected so might have lost 30 seconds or so. Split analizer reckons I lost nothing here but complained about my time to no4 saying I lost 44 seconds. Not sure why, as I didn't have any trouble. I did stop to yell out to a couple well below that they were too low as I figured they might get beyond course closure if they stayed down where they were.

Overall I enjoyed the area and Denis' course. Maybe I'll set here if I can seeing it is so close to home.

Mapgirl had a great run and placed first in her W19-49 class. Me well I was better than half way down so not to bad considering my pace. Loks like a few people had some problems out there.

Control Collection 1:00:00 [2] 3.0 km (20:00 / km)

Collected a few controls as I haven't done to much of this since Baxter was born and Denis didn't weem to be bowled over with helpers.

Felt soooooooo tired. Took me longer to grab these 7 controls than it di to run my whole course. LeepBax was asleep in the car when I returned. He had a big day and we even discovered his first tick when we were bathing him that night.

Newy Park Run 31:37 [3] 5.0 km (6:19 / km)

Happy with this time as it was a little windy and lack of sleep for a few days meant we were never seriously going to challenge our PB. (only 24 seconds outside it though)

LeepBax did cause us about 5-10 seconds loss due to him getting out of his harness and reaching forward to touch the prams front wheel. Fortunately the top of the wheel (the bit he could reach) goes away so he couldn't get his hand caught in the mudguard and also lucky he couldn't reach the spokes so any injury would be just friction on the rubber tyre which maybe he would learn not to do so again.

Still I did eventually stop and put him back in his harness hence the loss of time but about 50 metres later he was at it again. He does get obsessed with some things. He also then flayed around forward backward and sideways cause a weight shift that was felt at the handles and made a less than flowing ride.

We might give our PB a shot next Saturday as the following two weeks we will miss runing Newy.
