NSW State League race 1:10:21 [5] 5.7 km (12:21 / km)

QB3 - LONG at Belanglo SF

Started early to allow time to get around and changed so as to babysit LeepBax so it was still a bit foggy and the forest damp and cool.
Had not seen any starters so was confused when picking up my map that it wanted me to cross the road and go into the southern part rather than just turn to my right and head into the immediatly adjacent forest. After convincing myself that that was right I decided that this control was going to need a lot of care and some fairly good bearing running. Ha Ha there it is right where I had hoped.

Was failry lonely out in the forest (but quite nice as well) as my early start meant I only saw two people the whole time I was out there, the first one giving me quite a start as I never exoected to see anybody at all. This meant I neaither recieved any assistance nor hinderance.

After nearly 20 minutes I thought I could do the lot in another 20 minutes but I soon tired and the forest soon became less friendly especially around the rocks. Still it wasn't so bad, could always get through, just made it a tad tiring for those less fit like myself.

Probably made two sub-two minute errors so was fairly happy but my time slipped out to a whopping 70 minutes. Still that put me into 5th which indicated many others certainly had a lot more trouble than I did.

Got to be fairly happy with this run.

String Course race 15:00 [1] 0.15 km (1:40:00 / km)

QB111 - String course

Took LeepBax on the string course after being told I had to do one by MaggieJ. First time we have done one together (I think he has done two before with Mapgirl)

Bax seemed to enjoy it but even the limited vegetation seemed to either trip him over or poke him in the face. He really just wanted to play with the bark on the trees or pick up sticks. I ended up carrying him for at least half of the course.

He did at least recognise the "banan" control symbol and manage to say it. I'm sure this wont be my last "string course" hence the new activity entry.

Back at the finish line waiting for Mum (who had a blinder), all he wanted t do was go over to the finish control, put his finger in the hole and go "beep". Not sure who showed him this but he loved it and I kept having to drag him away when finishers were imminant.

NSW State League race 20:01 [3] 2.4 km (8:20 / km)

QB111 - SPRINT @ Chevallier College Bowral.

Good course although a few "just run" type legs over fairly open ground where you could almost see the control from the previous one. As a non-runner this doesn't help my cause. Enjoyed the stuff in the buildings a lot more.

Got passed by one of my fellow M55 competitors who was obviously quite quicker than me but kept in touch as either my route choices were better or he was making mistakes. I thik it was he making some little mistakes.

Only a couple of retraces of my steps due to noticing the way ahead was not viable. Both only about 5-10 metres so fairly insignificant, but it is easier to nav at my snails pace.
