National race 54:01 [4] 6.0 km (9:00 / km)

Day3 @ Easter

Wow - fast area. Too fast for me to stick with the good guys. Made one mistake on a long but easy leg (track as attackpoint) when I failed to see a depression just outside the circle so pulled up short. Rest was fine and surprised myself by not stuffing up in the gold diggings toward the end of the course. Did seem to be less complex than day1 though.

Ran hard for me, which still included the obligatory walking up hills, so this is about as good as I get at this point in time. Couldn't have found nuch more than say a minute to cut off my time.

Note

While our results weren't too impressive we must say the three of us enjoyed Easter at Bendigo very much. Our accomadation was excellent (in so far as it was comfortable, roomy and very good value) and we meet up with some friends we hadn't seen for a while.

Sadly we didn't get to visit much in Bendigo itself due to our split start times resulting in us having less time after each event than we would have in the past. Poor LeepBax never ever got to the petting zoo.

We did however enjoy a nice post carnival dinner at Neil and Jules unique and charming home on Monday evening. Thanks guys!!!

Next year is NSW's turn but it will be a remote event. Not sure what input/work we will be doing. It may be limited as we have taken the foot of the gas pedal as far as contributing since LeepBax joined us, for a while at least.

Day2 @ Easter

Not my favourite type of terrain. Too steep for this black duck who is way too unfit for the physicallity that this area requires. Consequently accuracy and route choice suffered so a few mistakes. Must admit enthusiasm was not high due to yesterdays MP.

Didn't like the leg to 5 so went really wide up high and found there were controls up there on lesser slopes. would rather the setter had utilsed this area in our course. Perhaps though they were trying to test us physically.

National race 55:22 [3] 5.0 km (11:04 / km)

Day1

Gold mining area. Seemed to go quite well over the first half but added a few mistakes in second half that probably added up to around 5 minutes.

Was semi happy with my time but later saw on the results board I was listed as mispunched (hadn't noticed on my splits) and apparently hadn't visitied control 3. Couldn't believe it until we finally got our maps and checked and sure enough somehow I had thought I was at 3 when leaving 2. A slip of the eyes on the map? Dissappointing to blow easter in such a way on day1.

Liked the area though. Was challenging but OK if you kept your head.

Event: Easter 2013

2 PM

National 27:37 [3] 2.8 km (9:52 / km)

Prologue at La Trobe Uni

Great area (thanks for the map invis).
Plan was not to overdo it and conserve for next 3 days. Made about a 15 second mistake on 16. split analyser suggests others but thats me just slowing down.

Enjoyed the day.
