Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race 32:00 [5] ****
shoes: Inolv*s

JK Relay. Laura went out for BAOC on first leg and came back second. Then Becky Hoare went out and we missed her through the spectator so I was a bit shocked to be going out in 2nd (!) with Rach just behind me. Little miss at no.2 (rushing) and lost about 25 secs I reckon, then fine until no. 4 where I had one of those situations again where I thought I was in the right place but couldn't find the control. It was much further down the spur in a blob of green. I briefly saw Holly Orr at this point, but I then cut out to the track and legged it round the edge of the marsh and got away. I saw Rach on the way to no. 7 but we had different gaffles up to the spectator control and she was 50m ahead. I knew I had to be with her before the last climb or I wouldn't be able to be in contention so I raced after her and punched just before her at the 2nd to last control. Then pegged it up the hill and hoped that I had done more hill reps than Rach!
Really pleased with result, for me personally as I felt physically strong, but also for the Army team. So good to be in the mix and to get on the podium again! Well done Laura and Becky!!!

Orienteering race 1:13:00 [5] ****
shoes: Inolv*s

Strong race, little shame I missed the water point control. Oh well, hopefully won't do that again!
Couldn't find no.2, neither could Mhairi. Map dodgey again in my opinion. Overshot 3 because the crag looked like a boulder. Then going really well, despite the clear problem with the boulder on the slope at no. 15 which was way too low which meant my bearing to no.16 was wrong and I had lots of climbing to do to get to it. Found Jenny at that point who had also been foolish enough to follow a bearing! Went really well through the next few controls and was really flowing....until the pile of crap at no. 21 when the veg change to scrappy trees was not marked and I found a hill just like the one I was looking for...but no control and not on map. Had to relocate twice as the first time I found a ditch that was also not on the map.
Overall pleased with race physically and through the tricky controls but unhappy with map and pissed off I lost the time at 21.

Orienteering race 31:00 [5]

JK Middle Race. Almost feeling back to normal. Tough little area but map not up to it to my mind. I thought that no.2 and no.6 shouldn't have been allowed to have been placed where they were as the map was distinctly dodgey. That doesn't quite explain my little errors at 14 and 15 though! Overall pleased but frustrated. Glad to be running though! Well done Rach!

JK Sprint race. No mistakes really, very little time lost. Pleased with Oing. Just felt like I had no top gear. Pippa won by 10 secs with Helen B in second 2 secs behind.
